How much does living at Abbeyfield House cost?
How do I apply to become a resident?
Once you've found a home you'd like to move into, you can get in touch directly with the house. Please email or call to arrange a visit and find out more information.
What activities can residents enjoy?
Enjoy gardening with your friends or have fun at bingo. Come along to our outings to nearby Hadleigh, for afternoon tea and fantastic entertainment.
Can my family visit?

Two tasty and nutritious home-cooked meals are offered each day.
Can I bring my car?
Yes, you can bring your car so you can venture further afield.
Will I have access to Wi-Fi?
Yes, stay connected to family and friends.
What's in the local area?
We are proud to be a key part of the community. We're within easy reach of local churches which include visits from the clergy, and the local town centre. You'll find excellent transport links with bus stops just outside the house, and the sandy beach of Canvey Island close by.
What security is there for residents?
With CCTV cameras covering the outside of the house, we are able to provide a high level of security. As the house is not staffed overnight we have a 24 hour Careline with each resident having a personal pendant and a phone line with direct connection to the help-line so that help is immediately available.
Does Abbeyfield House have charging points for mobility scooters?
Yes, charging points for mobility scooters are available in the communal garage.
What will my room look like?
We opened the doors to our first Abbeyfield House in 1959, and are able to provide 11 comfortable and well-equipped rooms, complete with private bathrooms and mini kitchens allowing residents to have the best of both worlds; remaining independent but still having as much privacy as they want.
What age do I need to be to live in an Abbeyfield retirement home?
We welcome any person aged 55 years and over to live at Abbeyfield - whether you want to downsize, simply want to live in companionship with others, or no longer feel able to continue living in your own home.
