Because their price is based on the use of non-renewably sourced electricity. They sell gas-generated electricity and charge as such, not the price for renewably-sourced energy. They still claim that all of their electricity comes from renewable sources.
I am changing tariff but staying with So Energy. What happens to the credit balance on my current So Energy tariff?

Couple of things. Firstly we are pleased to hear that you are staying green and with So Energy for another year - brilliant :-)
With regards to the credit, please ensure we have a recent meter reading - within the last 4 weeks.
If we have a recent meter reading, when you get the final statement on your old tariff any credit minus one month of your new Direct Debit amount we will refund back to you.
Just like when you came on supply with us we require payment in advance, therefore one payment of your new Direct Debit amount will stay on the account.
Feel free to give our customer service team a call on 0330 111 5050 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) and they will be able to review the account for you.

If I change to So Energy from my current OVO electricity supplier, what happens to the credit balance I hold with OVO?
Hello,
Five days before you are due to come on supply with So Energy we will email you for meter readings, its important you submit these via your online account. They will then get passed for validation and on to your previous supplier. This is to ensure that your previous supplier closes your account on same reads that we open your account. Your previous supplier will then settle the final account with your self.
If there is a credit they would refund that back to you if there is a debit balance then you would need to settle that directly with them.

We have tried to report meter readings last couple of days but cannot get onto our account with So.
We have changed our password 3 times and still no luck.
We have succeeded on previous ocassions.

No, you would have received a reminder email within the last 60 days of your contract, and other reminders within the last 30 days and even the day before.
I recently said no to a smart meter. I would now like to have one fitted how do I contact So Energy to book a fitting appointment.

That said, if you did ever want to submit a manual reading the quickest and easiest way to do this is via your online account, or our automated messaging service when you call us.

Why can't you get a winter payment on the gas,yet you can get it on electric?

Thanks for asking your question. The rules around the payment have changed recently so the supplier who supplies your electricity will apply the payment to your account for you. This was to avoid any duplication of payments for customers who hold gas and electricity with different suppliers.

In general you should get monthly bills, so I'm sorry to hear that hasn't happened.

What is a flex tariff
Hi Sandra, thanks for your question, a Flex tariff is one where the price can change up or down at any time with at least 30 days notice, as opposed to a fixed tariff where the price remains the same until the end date.
