Write a ReviewWe really have had the best experience at this hospital. I gave birth here, my mother in law had a major surgery and we have had many routine/scan appointments there. The children’s ward is fantastic- our 1 year old was very unwell and they …
Situated off Newton Road on the B5307 just outside city centre. Plenty of parking space for visitors unfortunately you have to pay. Site is large and well signposted. At the main entrance there is security to monitor the flow of people. The …
After a stroke – I have to thank everybody involved with my fantastic professional speedy treatment. From Dave, the senior paramedic, to all the stroke team on arrival, the CT team and all on the ward, from the consultants, all the nurses …
Perfect coordination. Triage, x-ray, bone put back in place, arm in plaster and a further x-ray. From walking in to walking out, less than an hour and fifteen minutes. The NHS isn’t broken according to my experience today. Excellent care.
Thank you to all the staff at the A&E department. In two hours they provided an ICG, blood, x Ray and the kindest nurse even asked me if I wanted a cup of tea. I was expecting long waiting time and chaos but I just got the best service. …
Attended elective day surgery 11th February for gallbladder removal.
Very efficient quick professional and friendly.
Can’t praise them all enough. …
Absolutely disgusting. They put their own efficiency over the patient’s comfort. We went in for minor surgery at 12pm and got out by 7pm after they told us they wouldn’t do the surgery because the safety team or whatever left early. This is …
For a Friday night I was seen and assessed by very polite staff had MRI done plus blood tests etc all in 3 hours so I’m not complaining as I was very happy with the way I was treated in such a clean and relaxed manner

My husband was admitted to the Cumberland Infirmary following a stroke. From the moment he arrived at the hospital to the moment he was discharged he received the most outstanding treatment and care. Our heartfelt thanks to all the team for his care.
Absolutely superb treatment from all staff during my recent stay in early December. I was treated in a calm and kind professional way. I can’t thank ALL of the staff enough!!
Dialysis unit experience was worrying. If there’s an upsetting incident of nurses bullying patients aren’t investigated and logged despite having seen the matron. They cared more about keeping an apparent zero complaints board than they do …
I had a routine appointment with which there were no issues. Department clean and tidy, staff member friendly and efficient. Seen on time. This hospital gets bad reviews but not on this occasion
I came here on a follow up appointment after getting very poor treatment from A&E at Leeds (following broken ankle) in comparison to Leeds, I was seen promptly no one was waiting around to be seen, even if they were in without appointments. …
My Mother in Law was taken in after a fall, everyone, absolutely everyone, was kind, helpful and went out of their way to ensure she was comfortable and happy. Thank you so much
My husband was admitted to Larch ward with a pulmonary embolism on 27th June. He had 2 night in hospital and was treated extremely well, thanks to all who helped in any way. A special thanks to the ambulance team from Keswick who arrived at our holiday cottage within 2 minutes of ending a telephone conversation with 111.

Thank you to all staff in the MRI outpatient suite at Cumberland Infirmary your kindness and dedication was admirable even though I was apprehensive about the scanner you talked me through the procedure and I was very calm after that 10 out of 10 keep up the good work

Worst hospital I ever went to had an appointment at 10.00 am waited till 12.30 I understand they are very busy but why do they book you in for a certain time iff you have to wait 2 and half hours
Brilliant, fast and efficient. Went to A&E with a suspected broken finger on bank holiday Monday. Fully expected a long wait but was very impressed to be in and out within the hour. All the staff that dealt with me where both helpful and professional.
The care I have received at the Cumberland Infirmary over the last5days has been nothing short of brilliant. Each and every member of staff deserves every plaudit available. Every time I bring my elderly mother or aunt to outpatients or X-ray dept we have at least a 1. 1/2 to 2 1/2 hour wait! This is not a complaint about the staff who do their best but about managers who clearly book too many patients into the clinics!
I would have given my score as 0 but this was not an option. I’m not scoring CCU where the care was excellent. Readmission one day after leaving CCU to EMU following another bout of printzmetals angina. Showed to a bed with a significant …

Went for a flexible sigmoidoscopy. All was professional and Covid safe. However due to some confusion I was given incorrect bowel cleansing protocol and thus unable to perform minor polyp removal in addition to checking previous site of removal of a large non malignant tumour. So I have been given a new date for that procedure.

In October 2013, after my wife (suffering from advanced vascular dementia) was treated at the hospital after fall, I was scathingly – justifiably – critical of the treatment she received. I think it is now time to add a qualification …
