Write a ReviewExcellent care from the A&E team. I spent almost 24 hours at the hospital. Being concerned about my symptoms I was re- assured and taken care of. All the nesessary tests were done and a diagnosis made. The two doctors who looked after me were fantastic, the nursing staff were very friendly . Thank you so much!
I went to the Out of Hours Service yesterday concerning an adverse reaction to medication. Having called 111 initially I was called back by a very helpful doctor who assessed the situation and asked me to come in. I was thoroughly examined …
Can’t stay in a&e to get seen, they’re not accommodating for anyone in distress or with mental illness. Told them I had appendicitis symptoms which they ignored for 4 days till my appendix burst and I ended up with peritonitis and almost …
Had to attend as an out patient to dept E101 and from the moment I arrived every single member of staff I interacted with was kind, helpful, and without exception superb. The entire team in that department are a real credit to the hospital …
I have recently had foot surgery carried out by Mark Farndon, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Mark and his Team. The attention to detail, care and professionalism shown by all was exceptional.Thank you Rowan Ward, Theatre and Cast Room you should all be very proud.
Could not have asked for a better service. The nurses the doctors were brilliant! They treated my little boy like a king, we are so grateful! 10/10!
I suffer from very complex mental health problems and during a particularly bad few days I went to a&e only to met with one of the rudest individuals I’ve ever encountered working behind the front desk there. If anyone at the hospital reads …
If you follow protocols: dial 111 or 111 online beforehand I guarantee a smooth experience from the process of letting hospital know in advance. You will be triaged within 30 to 45 minutes; such was my experience. A practitioner saw me …
Care experienced from the Radiology, Phlebotomy and Maternity Units was exceptional however, …
Took granddaughter to A&E and was directed to Minor Injuries unit. GD was seen quickly, being treated by Rachael, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, who did a tremendous job with procedure whilst also calming GD who was very distressed. Rachael explained what she was going to do each step of the way which helped enormously.
I had to go to A&E with a badly damaged wrist, the staff were incredibly efficient, and the thoroughness to ascertain the extent of my damage was impressive, if it was in my power i would give them what the ask, they deserve it
Got my lacerated leg sorted quickly at A&E here thanks to Gillian there. Free parking due to machine broken. Result!
This is the second time I have attended the Endoscopy department in 2 years.
May I say the procedures aren’t nice but, & this is a big but.
The staff on this department are exceptional at what they do. …
Wonderful care in A&E last night. Very busy and staff were under a lot of pressure but everyone was so kind and helpful. Very long wait, minor injuries would have been the right place for some of the injuries. Thank you to everyone there you do an incredible job for which we are very grateful.
I had a knee arthroscopy yesterday at the day surgery unit. I was very impressed! I arrived at noon, was greeted warmly and shown to my bed/cubicle; shortly afterwards the physiotherapist came to go through my post operative exercises and …
MRI team brilliant professional. However, do not go in Harriet’s restaurant. The customer service is appalling, staff spend more time talking than serving customers. The food is absolutely disgusting, 2 x breakfast, coffee, tea, £11.00.
Then to sit down and to have to warm it up in a microwave myself, not good at all.
I had to go to A&E this morning with a dislocated knee and I just want to give the biggest thank you to all the staff I saw today. Yes the wait was long but every member of staff I spoke with was so unbelievably lovely. I was quite upset …
I want to tell you a true story which I experienced today on the 15th August so that everybody can be well informed including all future visitors on the so called “Harrogate District Hospital Emergency Department”. If you happen to have …
Fantastic care in A&E snd also in Bolton ward following suspected heart attack . Doctors, nurses snd all staff so pleasant , thorough, professional and caring despite being under extreme pressure. Cannot thank them enough for the care they provided.
Brilliant ED, excellent Dr’s and nursing staff, all trying their hardest to do their very best despite broken equipment and lack of beds. However, their frustrations never showed through, true professionals. Great hospital great people working there.
This is about A & E initial booking in, very arrogant on the booking in talk down to you no eye contact. Make you feel as though you need to beg their help.
Recently been to Harrogate and York NHS hospitals, must say getting so much worse. Must add the Will Not Stand for Abuse posters they have up, that works both ways people.
I’ve been on better nights out to be honest!, but turns out this establishment is just what the Doctor ordered
Absolutely horrible staff behind reception of A&E
Kept asking my partner ( who came in with an asthma attack) to speak up , speak …
Was in for nearly 4 weeks. And I can’t thank and praise all employees from surgeons to doctors, nurses, student nurses cleaners and porters. Sorry I nearly forgot all staff in the catering the food was excellent very very nice and taste …

At the start of July my partner called 999 and the call handler stayed on the line talking to her until the first responder arrived soon after followed by the ambulance. The paramedics were fantastic and went above and beyond. Once in A&E …
Sat in A&E now for 6 hours still not been seen, no aircon working the place is stifling hot! Absolute joke and breeding ground for Covid! Came In as couldn’t breath on advise from 111, elderly people been here just as long and not even been offered a drink! Fab service as always NHS!
Thank you so much to all the staff on Harlow suite for looking after me so well the gynaecology team are all amazing and the lovely healthcare staff, really appreciate the care I received your all a credit to the hospital!
I’ve never been to a hospital with a more compassionate and friendly team – thank you to the CAT ward consultant and nurses (and other team members) who looked after me recently. An excellent standard of care and the nicest bunch of people too on what was a busy day for them.
My daughter was recently taken by ambulance to the hospital. She couldn’t praise the kindness of all the staff high enough.
She also commented on how much effort was put into keeping the environment safe. …
There are pros and cons to this hospital.
Pros: excellent with infants and small children in the A&E. Waiting time is …
I had a motorcycle accident on the 5th of July at 8:15am luckily not too serious fractured shoulder, the ambulance got to me and I was in a&e for 9:44 (excellent) and back out for 6:45pm from the ambulance nurses right to the orthopaedic …
Just had Day Surgery here today, thank you so much to all the amazing staff, everyone was lovely. The place has a controlled and calm atmosphere which helps put minds at ease !
Horrible staff, one stabbed me in the side with a needle for no reason other than I used to be a car salesman 5 years ago and she had an issue with them, just don’t go here
I took my 92 year old mum into hospital on the 12th of December and as she became more unwell she finally passed away on 31/12/21, I cannot praise A&E, all the staff and in particular Stacey who cared so much for both mum and myself as her …
I want to thank the Harrogate hospital for the great way they treated me, and my stay has been in Ward Oakdale and Ward Granby in any staff that I have come across, in both places to see which has been more friendly and with the handicap of …
Forced a DNR on me to sign with low oxygen, got bruises from rough treatment, swollen feet from failed diabetes care. Given a handbell to ring when put in a windowless empty room between wards. Complaint responded with lies. I am in my eighties, but not a fool.
Clear signage which was easy to follow. Face masks and hand cleansers available. Staff clear, polite and friendly. Appointment on time. Like all hospitals insufficient parking.
Rang to see how my friend was doing. Due to ‘patient confidentiality ‘
they couldn’t tell me. They also couldn’t even tell me if he was still in hospital or had been discharged. I asked about visiting hours. Each ward has it’s own …
I wish we didn’t need to be in A&E but if you ever need to this one is the one to be in. Wonderful and caring staff and doctors that inspire confidence. Great service
I have had reason, unusually for me to avail myself of care at this hospital 3 times in the last 6 weeks or so. …
My wife and I have needed to use the hospital’s services a couple of times now and found the staff be very efficient and friendly. Checking in was very easy using the intuitive touch screen, the Doctors were very thorough and gave clear …
If all other foundation trusts are not run as well as this one, with intelligent, switched on staff, perfect paperwork, brisk efficiency, compassion and EXCELLENT communication, then it is the fault of the MANAGEMENT of those trusts who …
I have just spent 2 1/2 hours in an extremely busy Harrogate A&E department. I had a simple fracture in my foot. The reception staff, nurses, radiography and doctors were all attentive, calm under the pressure of numbers and considerate to a fault. Thank you all for your care.
Seen on time for prebooked appointment. Staff pleasant efficient and helpful.
Cancelled my orthopaedic clinic appointment twice with little notice. The most recent cancellation was on the day of the appointment AFTER I’d already booked annual leave at work. Going back to my GP to try a different and hopefully more reliable hospital.
Went to see out of hour doctor at hospital last night due to severe pain in wrist. Was there 3.5 hours but in that time saw doctor for pain relief, Orthopaedic doctor who did blood tests & X-Ray & then Consultant to explain diagnosis; sent …
Wensleydale Ward – An absolutely lousy experience was experienced by a relative of mine on this ward. Staff were disinterested and senior nursing staff had a very poor attitude. Patients left to fend for themselves . Cleanliness on the ward …
I was sent to A&E with a suspected emergency condition. The thoroughness of the investigations and the care of the staff was amazing. Since then I was referred to the Urology Department and, again, the care and support was superb. I cannot thank the staff of the hospital enough.

My husband attended an out of hours appointment. Such friendly and considerate medical staff. He was admitted and received wonderful care and attention from all the healthcare professionals who saw him. Thank you all so much. We are all very lucky to have such a marvelous hospital in our area.
Requested appointment 1pm, obtained for 3.20pm same day. Obtained prescription and chest x-ray at walk in clinic same hour. Collected prescription an hour later. All free as over 60! What a brilliant country we live in. Thank you very much for such a great local service.
We were 10 minutes late for a 9.30 appointment, due to queuing to get in to park and the sign in touch screen not working and were told that the Consultant would not see us as we were ten minutes late! …
Being in the healthcare industry myself, I don’t want to be biased writing up good reviews for hospitals. My wife had delivered in the hospital few months ago and it has been such a stressful time due to a number of reasons. I can’t fault …

A&E Saturday, 24th January.
Had to present to A&E with severe swelling to my throat/difficulty breathing. The staff in A&E (and, apparently an Ambulance team on site) were FANTASTIC. …
Came here from another hospital after poor care and the eye team at Harrogate are superb. After over 3 years of pain and sleepless nights I am now well on the mend and looking forward to a brighter future. Can’t thank them enough.
I know everywhere is short-staffed, but the automated telephone service on ringing in for therapy services, podiatry etc is extremely poor – not even opening times are given, just the message “podiatry is not available” (at 4.55pm on a …
Not impressed !! The hospital itself is not the problem for me as there are lots of crossings and dropped kerbs .
I arrived at the main entrance and went to turn into the disabled car park which …
I rang the eye department in tears after trying to get to them via bus (80 mile round trip) as I got on the wrong bus and still would have a half mile walk. The operator was cold and totally unsympathetic. So the treatment I need won’t be happening. Just a completely horrid experience.
I have just had surgery on my thumb joint, and wanted to thank everyone involved in my care, especially the anaesthesia team and theatre staff. I received such wonderful professional and friendly care,, and can’t praise this service highly enough.
had a recent visit to A & E which resulted in 5 days in hospital. I have to say the care was second to none for my whole time there and i have to thank all the staff for looking after me and getting me back on my feet.
I think i’ll give Yorkshire warrior a miss next year.
I’ve had lots of appointments recently and I have to say that the treatment has been fantastic in all departments. The staff have been more than helpful and that makes such a difference when you’re I’ll.
Harrogate District Hospital is without any doubt. The best….
The service I have recieved over the past 20 years has been exemplary.
This includes saving my life on 2 occasions. I am currently a still a very …
My son had the misfortune to break his leg last week and I had the dubious pleasure of ferrying him to the a&e department. I say dubious because I steeled myself for the long haul usually associated with these visits. What a fantastic …
We had planned birth at c section here. There was a male doctor who was :doing the thing:. Nobody even warned us. There is a reason most women dont choose male gynecologist. It was disrespectful and rude at best, from the hospital. The guy …
Many thanks to all the staff in HDH Dermatology Clinic B105 for the wonderful treatment given to my husband yesterday.
Really my worst experience in women’s ward. I’m trying to do my tests since February!!!!! Complaints respond with excuses full of lies.
Accompanied elderly patient with severe dementia referred by GP to a&e. Definitely NOT dementia friendly! Also follow up scans, results appointment etc made no allowance for age, traveling difficulties or dementia.
Very good staff, great nurse’s look after you well, food is good there is coffee in the reception area, large expensive car park that almost always seems to be full. Or a long queue to get into.
The A&E Department is a 10 star service. Having hurt my chest falling off my bike I was dealt with in a professional and extremely efficient fashion. With or without covid this team are excellent.
Good flow of people passing through, all seemed to run smoothly.plenty of very helpful people to direct you to where you need to go.all in all a positive visit.
Everyone was very helpful, very caring, knowledgeable and professional staff all round. I felt loved and all my needs were met. Thank you so much.
A lovely NHS hospital, kind staff and all doing an amazing job. In my opinion if you give a hospital anything less the 5 stars you don’t deserve to use the NHS
