Write a ReviewNo idea why SSE outsource their deceased customer’s accounts out to this company. I’ve contacted several other companies whilst winding up my late mother’s affairs and they have all been excellent and empathetic. Trying to obtain final gas …
I had a great experience with Phillips & Cohen Associates (UK), Ltd. debt collection agency. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and they went above and beyond to help me recover debts from some of my most difficult clients. They …
Seems like my experience is the same as many others. My solicitors has sent this company many emails confirming everything has been sorted and closed yet I’m still getting calls. I put in a complaint and had no correspondence or …
I was hesitant to use Phillips & Cohen Associates (UK), Ltd. debt collection agency, but I’m so glad I did. This agency was professional, efficient, and got results quickly. They were able to recover debts that I had given up on, and their …
If this company (Debt Collectors) contact anyone about a deceased’s energy bills, ignore them. I have had nothing but hassle over my late mothers energy bills. I have given them an ultimatiun to get things resolved within 14 days or i will …
If anyone is contacted by this company about a deceased gas or electric bills, ignore them. Deal directy with your enegy company not this company. You do not have to talk to them or provide them with any information as they are a third …
Made multiple calls to my elderly uncle regarding my late mothers estate, despite him having no involvement, didn’t know who they were asking for, amateurish attempts to collect on an account that has already been settled directly with the …
I have had a really poor experience with this company who were really disrespectful over the fact I had been bereaved, intimidated me over a payment that forms part of my late mother’s estate. If this company writes to you send the letter or e-mail back to them and if they try to call put the phone down and report them to the FCA
I had received letters from this company about a debt owed to Eon for electricity. I phoned them and explained that all the monies owed from the estate of my late mother had been paid in full. The lady said she would look into it and get …
They are almost certainly one of the worst companies I have ever been exposed to. …
Phillips and Cohen contacted me regarding my late mother’s outstanding account due to a utility company and their representatives both young and older all showed patience, compassion and complete understanding when speaking to me. Even …
Just spoke to a lovely gentleman regarding my late mother’s outstanding debts, I explained everything to the best of my knowledge and Chris was very reassuring and talked to me in a kind manner which is what I needed after losing someone …
Not happy that British Gas are using Phillips and Cohen ( a debt collecting agency) to collect payment from my late mother in law’s estate. She died 6 weeks ago at 93 years and has never owed anyone a penny. She always paid her bills on …
We lost mother 18 months ago. Eon next use these people to chase up payments on accounts instead of contacting us themselves.
You send Phillips Cohen a long detailed email explaining the situation. Instead …
I have tried to pay a credit card dept for my late mother, the automated payment won’t work they said check card issuer, can’t verify their account for bacs and the link says not available but they still call as if I haven’t told them.
I had a letter about a debt owed to British Gas despite the account being closed, in credit and British Gas sending me a cheque. This was for a deceased account…they need to work on making sure their information is up to date….I didn’t need this extra stress.
Wonderful experience with this Company, despite them being a debt collection agency as mentioned in other reviews and have dealt with far worse over my time. The whole team were friendly and compassionate throughout my experience, but David …
Disgusting company. My deceased fathers iPhone from apple was passed to them when I informed Barclays partner finance. Received letter on Saturday and they are phoning me 4 days later wanting the money. Whilst on hold saying that they handle bereavement issues delicately. What a joke
This company sent a false statement to British Gas,that i was now the owner of my late mothers property even though i don’t own the property.
Very poor at dealing with my mothers bereavement. I have had almost 10 letters from them, explaining that my mothers estate owes an energy supplier to settle the account. However every single letter has a different owing amount on it. My …
Very cold and unprofessional customer service person called Charlotte. I made the call to pay a deceased debt and she just overtook the conversation from the start not allowing me to speak as I took the time to make the call. Very rude and …
Why am I getting letters to come to an arrangement for paying an outstanding bill of £600,? (obviously charges have been added )for someone I loved very much but I am not next of kin. I end up paying for all funeral costs as no money was …
Actually very insensitive and nosey and overstepped the mark on questions that had nothing to do with them when I rang them to pay the balance outstanding on a deceased friends credit card that had gone unpaid after the accounts had closed.
Not sure what some people expect from a collection’s agency, but this isn’t my first rodeo if you know what I mean. They’re a lot friendlier than the collections agencies I had to deal with a few years ago before filing bankruptcy. In comparison these guys are as sweet and friendly as puppies.
Absolutely disgusting company. They have no respect and harass you at all times of the day and write constantly even when told to give me a few weeks to pay. My mother recently passed away and a few members of staff ask such cruel …
constant phone calls about a debt on my late brothers estate that was paid direct to Barclays as soon as probate was granted – figure plucked from thin air and being told no payment received by Barclays when I have receipts and bank statements to show it has been paid
According to their website they offer a unique and compassionate service. Well it’s unique alright…they wrote to my mother about her death….when she is alive! And when I explained that she was alive and the upset they had caused, they …
So they have chased my brother and then my EX sister in law and now me for money. My father passed away in August and they were sent all the relevant paperwork on request. So why oh why oh why do they continue to chase the family to see if …
Just called me to say I need to pay for my own funeral for a dead person loosers
How can someone say or Gove them 5 stars?
Incompetent, unsympathetic, don’t listen oray attention, unable to add up – …
Received a demand for a final bill for electricity (SSE) from these today (MAY 1 2019) – and offering advice on Probate. I have dealt with my late mothers estate since she passed away November 2018 , without any so called professional help. The final bill of the estate was paid April 11th – not impressed at all!
Giving 1 star is generous. Unprofessional debt collectors acting when a debt doesn’t even exist. Don’t touch them with a barge pole.
Telephone call received from this company on a Saturday morning. Some guy mumbling regarding payment of S Trent bill from a late aunt’s estate. This had already been dealt with by the solicitor but they still wanted more information. Severn Trent should get their act together and use a more polished and professional agency. Disgusting.
A company that exists purely to remove the penny’s from a dead persons eyes.
They purchase non statutory debts from the deceased, then ask those dealing with …
They have been pestering me for several years now over a unpaid gas bill due from my late mother’s estate. I’ve blocked their phone number but they keep sending me letters. I’ve spoken to them in the past but they don’t really listen. I’m thinking of taking legal advice. Parasites.
overpaid so have been trying to sort out repayment has taken over a week still haven’t received four times ithey told me they call back no callback (great service not).
Not even worth one star. Really rude and abrupt in my dealings with them. They left a message and when I replied asked me for a range of details before confirming who they were.
I phoned this company after receiving a letter, they asked questions that didn’t seem pertinent to the issue, and I felt very uncomfortable talking to them, really felt like it was a scam not a professional feel about it.
They approached me and my brother with compassion during a real tough time after our father’s passing and I appreciate the way they handled the situation. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in their shoes that’s for sure.
Just another low level debt chasing agency. Not interest in whether the debt they have been passed is valid – sole method of collecting appears to be harassing people via phone and sending the occasional letter. Block their number and shred their letters.
Absolute money grabbing crooks. Put pressure on bereaved families when the information they have themselves is out of date and inaccurate. Ignore at all costs and speak with your original provider first.
Have asked them to write instead of phoning but no letters received. No idea who they are.
Absolutely shocking service. 3 emails sent and still no response!!!
I received a call from this office the other day and wasn’t able to answer my phone. When I called back today, I was on and off the phone in under 10 minutes and got everything squared away by the time I said goodbye. Now that’s efficiency in action.
This company has been ringing a phone formerly used by an employee of mine who died last July, generally 2-3 times a week for 10 months, chasing information they were given 10 months ago in pursuance of an alleged debt. They give sharks a bad name. And the new employee is fed up with their nuisance calls. So am I.
After receiving a letter stating I was dead and addressed to the executor of my estate I rang this company basically they couldn’t see or understand why this had caused myself or myfamily distress
Not impressed at all. My late father was with Eon for energy and the first thing they did was pass me on to a bunch of debt collectors who want to charge me for an estimated bill that has no basis. Not impressed with them or Eon for their shoddy practices.
Not very happy they phoned me asking about probate for my father ,which is being dealt by my solicitor .They claim to have been in touch with them and recieved no response to phone calls or e mails …
Please provide email address for contact as not everyone wants contact by phone.
Very unorthodox company just came off the phone, with one of there agents, chasing money for Power, even though the solicitor, has been dealing with the estate, for the last 9 months, chasing £300, when the account was in credit, and it would have been nice for NPower to at least send an email or letter, seeing there was a problem.
One star isn’t low enough harrasing for money on mobile and landline at same time and saying it couldn’t possibly be them. Bill was only four weeks old!
I found everyone at Phillips and Cohen extremely understanding and respectful of my situation. They are instructed by large institutions. I would direct any grievances to them .
No idea how to handle bereavement cases. Despite telling on numerous occasions to only contact me by letter they continually bombard me with phone calls .
Thank you for your professionalism, responsive service and care for my belongings – I would highly recommend them!
Poorly trained staff refusing to give any details and said I was deceased, insensitive to say the least as my mum passed away 2 weeks ago
Was able to settle my late mother’s debts for less than what she owed. A literal god-send.
Scammers from Manchester – they contact executors of the estate of dead relatives and demand money – look up the reply letters published on advice web site – give them nothing they are scum
If you reply right away they’re more willing to work with you and figure out a better settlement.
At the absolute worst time in our lives regarding my late father- we had to deal with this company who were pushy impatient vultures- dreadful
Paid the money owed and received a release of debt letter in less than a week.
Aweome service, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
Wonderful service!, Great service and fast results!
Aggressive not sympathetic as they state.
10/10
