We have had other recent queries regarding the use of metal detectors on land under HBBC ownership. Unfortunately we have been advised by our legal department that although the use of metal detectors is permissible, we would not allow the digging of any finds that people make. This is on the basis that it would damage the public open space and the ability of the public to enjoy the same. The Council has a duty to maintain public open space and therefore cannot consent to such actions which would effectively cause damage to the area. Kind regards, HBBC.
