Hi i want to ask if i can have an apoiment strait way i am pregnant so i want to see the child and haw many maunth so plisz let me now haw to doit ?
Hi Alina! If you have a GP you should contact your GP's Reception ASAP, tell them you are pregnant and follow their advice - they should arrange for you to see a GP very quickly, who will sort out your Hospital appointment for a scan, etc.. If you don't have a GP I STRONGLY suggest you call the NHS non-emergency Helpline number which is 111 and follow the advice they will give you. Hope all goes well for you and the baby!
Is there a walk in centrebat the hospital?
Hi Alex! Yes - there is a GP Urgent Care Clinic based at the Hospital - for genuinely urgent cases only... I believe the hours are 7am to 11pm seven days a week...
What areas are covered under pathology
Hi Alfred! That's rather a big general question to answer on Google Maps so if you don't mind I'll just quote here from the relevant page on the L&D Hospital Website:
"L&D Pathology is a leading provider of clinical pathology services, offering quality diagnostic, screening and monitoring testing to both the L&D Hospital and GPs in the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire area."
L&D Pathology actually has its own dedicated website but unfortuately that seems to be "down" at the moment. However more general information on Pathology Services can be found by searching the main L&D Hospital website. Hope this helps!
My daughter trudi Woodward came to the ane department on new year eve still awaiting an appointment for the oncology department to get back to her regarding a heart monitor .how long should she have to wait
Surely the Cardiology would be the people who would deal with a Heart Monitor?
I would imagine if it was urgent she would have been admitted. It has only been 2 weeks. You can phone up if you think the time is unacceptable.

Work experience students are welcome at the hospital. I believe you need to contact the admin dept of the particular area you are intetested in. All have their own rules.
I'm having my first ct scan tomorrow and I'm worried about it because I heard it is very noisy and loud noises scare me. Please can it be possible for the doctor doing the scan keep talking to me during the process.
It's far qiieter than an MRI scsn and you go through a ring and not s tunnel. The technician will tell you what is going on but does have s job to do!

can you please find a picture of the l &d hospital when first opened was it rebuilt
Hi Rose! I'm not an expert on local history but I understand the first hospital that probably could be described as the "L&D" was the Bute Hospital on Dunstable Road in Luton, opened in 1882, and so-called because the land had been donated by the Marquis of Bute. You can easily find old photographs of it by searching e.g. "Bute Hospital Luton" or similar on Google. But you could actually go one better as I think the building is still standing and still in use as a Medical Centre - search "Bute Medical Centre" on Google to find it and see what it looks like now! The first hospital buildings on the current L&D site were opened just before the Second World War in 1939. I haven't been able to find any photographs from that time but there is a photograph taken of the original M1 construction (around 1957?) which shows the L&D in the background, probably pretty much as it was originally built. You can find that by searching e.g. "Houghton Regis L&D" or similar. Hope this helps!
was the l& d hospital run by the monks when it was first built
Hi Rose! According to Wikipedia the original building of the current hospital was opened a few months before the outbreak of World War 2 on land bought from Electrolux. That would also of course have been before the creation of the NHS which happened after the Second World War, but I haven't ever heard mention of monks having been involved back in 1939. I wonder if there are any local historians out there who know any different?
