Write a ReviewThis hospital is very open and spacious in the entrance and reception areas. It doesn’t get much smaller when you walk the corridors. It looks more like an airport and doesn’t have that familiar feeling of sickness when you are there. Shops …
Have had positive experiences on the whole, with a couple of instances of not being treated well by certain staff members following surgery but they were the minority. The staff are kind and caring but don’t have the time they want to spent …
Some amazing staff here; especially at St Andrew’s Ward however some really poor management structures on 0 hours. There’s an insane expectation from staff who have had absolutely 0 training. Staff turnover is very high on Bank because of …
Having a toddler and being asthmatic myself, it’s meant I am unfortunately having to make a trip here more than I would like! However each time I am here I am listened to, taken seriously and treated with respect, no matter how busy it is. …
My 90 year old mother was admitted to Broomfield hospital on Christmas Day with cellulitis and bought home on Tuesday 3rd January. During her stay in Notley ward she was treated with care and respect by a variety of staff. …
Referred to by my GP as a matter of urgency I attended the Bloomfield A+E with some trepidation. I could not have been more wrong although very busy in at 2.15pm out at 5.30pm following 2 consultations, blood tests with results and a CT …
Exceptional healthcare. Broke my hip and was taken there. Scans and diagnostics were every fact and communication was great. Surgery was next day and I had exceptional aftercare from doctors, nurses and carers. The nurses in …
Huge hospital! Parking can be a bit of a nightmare so make sure if you have to visit here for routine appointments to leave plenty of time. Not so many Disabled parking spaces in the car park, there are more located in the A&E parking …
Hospital great.
New parking payment system (as of March) is so much better. I used the app and auto pay, no faff, no coins, no queue for machines and no charge as I was under …
I was given a prescription by my consultant unbeknown to me I had to get it at the hospital pharmacy. Came back to get it the following day, had to pay another £3.00 to park!!! I was informed the wait will be an hour and a half, asked if I …
I visited your an and e last night and the staff were extremely attentive, professional. I was provided with antibiotics intravenously/ fluids etc and already feeling much better. Every nurse and doctor was very professional, polite and efficient. Thank you so much.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Terrible patient care. doctors ignore when nurses page them so they just never turn up. Missed given medication to the point that we ended up having to chase them and keep a track of what my …
Indian doctors need to be taught manners and compassion. Never meet a nice one yet . Had endoscope recently.. should have just walked out when I see it was just rude. So much for the carming! with no sedative! He was raising his voice because I was gagging. Hopefully I’ll meet a nice one one day
I’ve stayed in Broomfield hospital twice over the past two weeks. First time for childbirth, second for an operation. …
With the exception of a very polite and helpful volunteer, we had an utterly shocking experience, pitiful attitude towards patients and a shadow of other local hospitals in all respects. Evident long standing blood on the floor of the X-Ray …
Broomfield Hospital is downright awful.
When my wife was expecting our first child our GP at the time referred us to …
A massive thank you to Lori & Pip on the Billericay Ward, you ladies made my experience so much more pleasant & positive! 🙂 Both done everything they could to put a smile on the ladies in my wards faces & we loved the extra support you both went above and beyond ! X
Attended A&E with my wife for a minor injury, seen very quickly x-ray done and saw doctor in under 40 mins. All done amazingly quickly, everyone was polite and happy…5 star experience keep up the amazing work
I went for an ultrasound today. I was called yesterday and told about the appointment, as the team members concerned had opened up the diary for today in order to try and reduce the backlog. Everything went really smoothly. Thank you Amir and Sonia.
I couldn’t have had better service. I was booked into A&E through 111 after a fall. I was was taken by husband although an ambulance was offered. I was seen immediately, had x-ray, went round to minor injuries where xray was checked for …
I visited Broomfield A&E department after being referred by another hospital. The best care was provided by the A206 department. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with great care and attentiveness. The nurses and admin staff …
I can’t fault the care I received at A&E 5th Jan. The receptionist Scott was absolutely amazing and very responsive to change in my condition. Within minutes I was triaged again and seen by nurse, stroke nurse and doctor. Despite the …
Basildon hospital told me to go there to get help for dental abscess. On arrival, no basic checks were done, just antibiotics prescribed. A risk of sepsis was significant. What a waste of public money! Never be back there.
I was an inpatient at the adults burn ward and can not fault the treatment I received. The health health care assistants, nurses and Doctors were incredible and went above and beyond to look after me. …
My mum aged 70 was transferred to Broomfield hospital Rayne Ward for hernia repair, I cannot fault any of the staff in ICU / HDU / the fantastic surgeons that done the tricky procedure & especially the lovely kind welcoming staff at Rayne …
Good for blood test appointments, but the waiting time in a and e is Terrible. Wards are understaffed, not enough time to actually care for people, especially the old and frail. Left in beds all day, with dirty pjs on, not got up at all, laying in urine pants, not impressed at all.
Special thanks to the surgeon who pinned my thumb back into place and the blonde lady in hand trauma unit who facilitated my care however some staff are grossly incompetent and I was misdiagnosed twice. One couldn’t even observe an X Ray?! Jane was brilliant though in hand therapy.
19th April 2023 .I had a really positive experience yesterday on the day stay unit where I attended for surgery. The environment was very clean and every member of staff was kind, polite, attentive to all needs and professional .Thank you to everyone who looked after me 😊 …
Department A106. Whilst the staff are friendly and polite, the administration is appalling. For 2 weeks now, we have waited over 40 minutes plus, past our appointment time before being called through. How a department can be running …
Ex-worker here.
Lost £5000, relocated for a role.
Manager abused staff by forcing them to do less hours, breach contract and paid …
I don’t normally have problems with broomfield but today the nurse was very rude and kept cutting me off when I was talking. Didn’t even bother examining me and sent me away, even though my doctor sent me to broomfield. Disgraceful
If you want to work on this hospital run!!!

1 STAR Because 0 STARS EXSIST…!!!
Absolutely disgusting service throughout… no good ever comes of a visit to broomfield hospital, whether that be an A&E department or a pre-arranged appointment… …
Typical overcrowded rubbish British Hospital, inefficient shambles ridiculous location, considering Chelmsford is now like Hong Kong due to the constant building of rubbish new flats and houses. …
My experience over the seven days at the hospital has left me in somewhat of a trauma, having to wait on a trolley for rwelve hours with no refreshments apart from a stale sandwich and some orange juice,I was feeling very famished and very …
Been waiting a knee operation since August 2021. I was informed by staff that they were hope fully for Jan 23. When phoned to asked details the lady rudely informed me that the hospital was not booking any surgeries for Han 23. What is the reason she was so rude, are patients not allowed to ask questions
I had a negative birthing experience. My birth plan was not taken into consideration and my plans (wishes) were completely ignored. Yasmin should not be a midwife. She did not listen to me when I said I was getting contractions she was …
It’s been four and three quarters hours and still sitting in the Same Day Emergency Care waiting room having been referred by my doctor with what he believes may be a thrombosis. Was referred for an X ray and blood tests. Have had neither. Hope I’m still breathing by the time someone come to see me.
One of the best hospitals that served me, but sometimes, waiting for things can take pretty long & we have not had the best experiences with parking. But overall, its a trustworthy place
Excellent staff and Ryan in physiotherapy is the best you can get, and so very friendly.
Misdiagnosed me with muscular pain when it was bacterial pleurisy so I was in agony for a week and a half barely able to breathe until my doctor’s diagnosed me with exactly what I said to the doctor I thought it was. Absolutely shameful. No bloods done either and was sent to the GP area lmao.
Amazing service throughout very helpful and caring staff, late night in paediatrics A&E, minor injuries unit then to X-ray could not fault anything apart from the car park, no working pay meters and no number to ring to pay over the phone.
Went for a timed blood test today, straight in and back out. everyone was super helpful even assisting me to put my jumper right. test was completely pain free. Normally these ladies and gent are run of their feet.
Be nice if they answered their phone once in a while.
I’ve ever understood why people harp on about how great the NHS is. Circus and clowns come to mind.
I was referred to this hospital on the 28thdec 2022 I saw mr chaurisa in the ent department regarding sore throat and tongue he sent me for some tests which were carried out over 3 more visits which included a mri scan ,and ultrasound .I …

An excellent hospital with efficient, knowledgeable and skilled staff.
However, the whole experience is let down by the car park. …
Had to visit A&E on Sunday evening. First time since moving to Essex in 2007. Cannot express enough thanks to all the staff who were so caring and cheerful. Everything spotlessly clean and efficient is the other word which springs to mind. Thank you NHS 😊 …
Staff and treatment fantastic, facilities great, volunteers brilliant, car parking disgusting. Car park 1 is totally inadequate in its provision, hence only three stars, sick people do not need that type of stress, not enough disabled spaces either.
Best hospital lovely staff all so kind and patient my mum stayed in for a week and was treated lovely also my daughter attends the fracture clinic with dr buddehkev and helen gille and they are so lovely
Awful… I am utterly disappointed and offended in Broomfield Hospital’s services. I was due in for an appointment yesterday on the 30th of august at 9:30 in the morning, however, their services were not met until 2 and a half hours later. In …
Have had several scans and a couple of procedures at Broomfield Hospital. They are highly efficient. The place is very clean. The staff are all wonderful and I have never had to wait very long to be seen. Cannot praise them highly enough. …
Great hospital. Parking well. Leave plenty of time. Shame they haven’t caught up with any ev charging yet. With 1 hr 30 mins drive. So a 3 hr ish without traffic can be difficult.
On October 19th I dislocated my shoulder and arrived at the hospital in the afternoon. I was in so much pain. I’ve got to A&E and they saw me as quickly as they could I’ve got rushed through and they relocated my shoulder and I cannot …
The facilities are a shambles.
First of all, the legendary carpark. If you can find a working pay machine it only takes coins. There’s a row of newer machines which ostensibly take cards but …
I was in phoenix ward under section 2. The nurses are all amazing! I didn’t have any family so they were like family to me and I loved them. They treated me soo well no matter how naughty I was. My favourites were the students; Ellie, …
Got to children A&E just pass 9am with 2 people before us. Nurse seen us within mins to make the initial assessment. We then waited. And waited but no one came to see us. A few more children come in but its not busy. At 11am I decided to go …
They won’t discharge me. Got an infection in the hospital promised I would be going home, no one available to take my bloods. There’s only one anaesthetist who is busy attending to emergencies on the maternity ward. So no one else can take …
I phoned Broomfield hospital for an update on my critically ill Father on 13/12/22 to be informed that he had died on 12/12/22 and they had ‘forgotten’ to inform me or his other family members. I don’t think I will ever be able to get over finding out like this 💔 …
I was in this area for a short holiday. Unfortunately I had an accident. The ambulance staff were so nice nor the hospital. The nurse was rude. Nobody took over the wheelchair from my partner even though she was struggling and pushed me …
Pathetic service was in severe pain spent 6 hours on a waiting bench no painkillers nothing. Staff was arrogant and inconsiderate. Being in health care myself I don’t know what their excuse for lack of compassion is but I must say noone …
After arriving at the reception on area a111 I could not believe how the receptionist greeted us it was like we was absolute dirt, she was rude and very unhelpful to say the least, the news we was receiving that day was not going to be good anyway but thankyou to the receptionist for making our visit that little bit worse.
I frequently use broomfield hospital and overall its a good experience.I recently had a prostatectomy and I’m very pleased with the results and aftercare.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at broomfield & Southend for their care.

Rushed my 2 yr old here to a&e, most of the car park pay machines broken. Then found one that works but coins only, had enough coins for 3 hours but we were still in childrens a&e when the ticket ran out, I couldn’t leave my child alone in …
So very grateful to Broomfield Hospital particularly the speed of ambulance driver Lee and Dave (Irish) for such immediate meticulous nursing when my husband fell in Duke Street on Friday. With serious injury to his face, we were so lucky …
I have treated the carparking and the treatment we received as two separate enteritis. For the carparking I would only have awarded one star. When we arrived there were plenty of spaces available, however talk about prehistoric, cash …
Doctor lacked any compassion. I cannot understand why you would become a medical professional if you dislike people so much. I hope she sees this and knows I’m referring to her, so next time she’s sees us, she knows i was fully conscious of how she acted towards my wife.
This hospital is lovely, the facilities for children is just unmatched. We had a long drive to this hospital to see a specialist in the childrens burns unit and it was well worth the drive to get her seen by such lovely, knowledgable, …
Awful. Phone directory between each department is a joke. I’ve been awaiting surgery on a growing lump on my lip for a year now. My gp refereed me to broomfield maxi facial clinic for surgery. They called me about 6 months ago to Warangal …
