Write a ReviewA nice pool though I’ve never used it I take my four grandchildren who are members of Buxton swimming club and also my son swims for the club. The changing which is unisex is clean and well designed with large cubicles and you can watch …
Looking online at home it stated there were 56 more spaces for family public swim. Travelled the 30minutes, to be told that the pool was full for today (cue two very disappointed children). I went outside to look online and it said there …
We went here today after one of our residents showed interest. Today we came here with a few of our guys are disabled and have learning disabilities. Unfortunately we were told upon arrival that it was card only. However our guys only had …
Nightmare from the start. Unable to book online and no answer to telephone call so called into book which proved to be very frustrating and disorganised, then when we arrived for the class one of the bookings wasn’t even on the system. …
I used to use the pool regularly for lane swimming. Now I can’t because you have to book in advance to get a place. Whenever I consider booking, the slots are always taken. …
After a recent visit this week I have to comment on the general cleanliness of the floor and surrounding area in the swimming changing area. We’ll done.
Littel gym not much equipment leaking in machines expensive for what it is
I’ve been a member for a few years.. Generally OK facilities but not always as clean as possible. Price of membership OK considering the equipment available. I’d be willing to pay more if the changing rooms were of a better standard.
Good pool and facilities can be a bit cold I’m learning to scuba dive their and the staff are always cheerful and helpful can be a bit dirty but I’m there at the end of the day after the public swimming has finished and possibly the cleaners haven’t been yet
Been visiting this leisure center for years now. Unfortunately it’s gone downhill massively over the last few years. It’s now overpriced and overly strict. I pay £4 for a strictly adhered to 45 minutes. An attendant today actually asked a …
Update post covid
The fitness area it’s still great, opening times also great. But it’s unfair for full paying members not to be able to use the pool! It’s alway busy and dirty …
I thought at first it was going to be very clean, as we were asked to either take our shoes off or wear covers before entering the changing rooms. Unfortunately other members of the public have a different level of cleanliness to myself, as …
First time swim for me since end of lockdown, was impressed by organising swim lanes ,tidy changing area & water was just right .would have got 5 if online booking & registration was simple.if your a member can see advantages
The small pool is barely warm enough for babies and toddler, and the public is being told that it’s a technical issue. Frankly I don’t believe this so I’ve stopped taking my son there because he ended up full of a cold from our last visit. …
Visited for the first time while on holiday, unfortunately we wont be back, Main pool is freezing, my toddler could only manage 10 minutes before we had to get out as she was so cold. Life Guards are intimidating and unfriendly. We we told …
I was told I had to pay by card so I had to walk back home to get my card. Cards are not a good idea in my opinion because some old people and lots of children do not use cards so the centre is losing customers.
It is a quite hygienic, lively place. In the gym, there are workouts you can do in groups (as is the same in the pool). In the pool you can just swim, lane swim, have lessons or accompany your child to splash hour (where there are …
Freezing large pool, small pool was closed. Was only in there 20mins and my 4 year wanted to get out was tired from constantly having to keep moving and was shivering he was so cold. Also it states no shoes into the changing rooms but one member of staff was happily walking around the pool area and changing rooms in his!
Unfortunately at the weekends the ‘public’ sessions are subject to random closures for private parties. The website is never updated for these. You can try phoning before hand to try and find out if its open – if there’s no answer and it …
Unprofessional staff! The receptionist was very rude and raised her voice at me several times. The pool was cold and the changing rooms had mud all over the floor.
Very poor availability for swimming. Recently went for a mid afternoon swim, 10 minutes after being in the pool I was asked to leave as they were starting swimming lessons (I wasn’t told prior to getting in). Tried to take our baby swimming …
A very small and dated (opened 1972) centre for a town of Buxton’s resident population, let alone the thousands of tourists on top. It essentially consists of a small pool and small gym, although I understand there’s a room for classes too. …
Took my baby here yesterday. We were told they didn’t sell any baby items from birth to 1. When we got there they did sell nappies for younger babies. The baby pool is supposed to be heated at a certain temp and my partner got in with my son and said it was very cold. Very disappointed and won’t be returning.
Small gym and a pool together. To the other people complaining about the pool temperature… higher temperatures need more chlorine to keep the water clean and more energy to heat the water. Try a dip in the duck pond outside; Now that really is cold!!
Pool is ok but showers are open to pool, one broken. Have to remove shoes and leave them unattended before entering changing rooms as floors constantly wet, slippery and dirty. Not enough changing rooms or family changing.
A great swimming pool near to the Opera House and I was visiting the area and was able to go to the early morning session for lane swimming (adults) …
Average in every aspect. A missed opportunity after many years being shut for refurbishment. Could have improved the facility and enhanced what is on offer, or even rebuilt in a different location. But sadly the British disease of …
Superb facilities, but the coldest swimming baths in the world, ever. I’m not certain, but I think I had ice forming on my trunks……..
Classes are regularly cancelled with little or no notice. Communication within the centre is shocking. The staff are very friendly and very helpful, apart from one very rude and grumpy receptionist. Internet is sporadic.
Go aqua fit and aqua jog and enjoy both daytime sessions immensely. Swim twice a week also. Easy online booking for aqua classes.
Excellent place reasonable price can’t fault it nice wide pool lovely
Really nice staff
It is a good pool but I would always recommend checking the website as the pool can often be closed unexpectedly. Also it is always cold in the pool.
Great place to swim, excellent smiley staff and just a nice location.
The pool is a lot warmer now this cold water thing has now been addressed, 😊😊🏊 …
Very good . Clean. It does move your children up the levels slowly so they get more money through lessons though.
Excellent facilities, with great provision especially during these times. Regular classes, easily bookable and good service.
Gym too small and not many machines for the price. Better priced gyms that have more equipment to use.
Excellent place.. the only thing that let’s it down is that the lanes are too narrow when it is mixed lane and all welcome..
Just spent an hour in the gym air-conditioning wasn’t working, cold water Fountain wasn’t working, very hot and Uncomfortable, staff were brilliant
9.10 Sunday morning. ..find it shut when website says it should be open. No answer or answering machine message when I rang.
Lovely staff always helpful especially Gergia and Sophie.
Lovely warm changing area, though the water is rather chilly!
A good public swimming pool and gym, check website for timings of different sessions and lessons

Water is always freeeeezing, to the point it turns my children’s lips blue!
