Write a ReviewFrom the initial 111 call, where I got through straight away, to the fabulous paramedics, to the amazing Drs and nurses who treated my husband, I have no complaints whatsoever. What was thought initially to be sepsis, turned out to be a …
Having been a regular patient at DCH including a few operations, the care given is always great but a special mention to the Endocrinology Dept. Due to my illness making me feel very poorly I’ve been amazed by the staff, especially the …
I would like to thank and praise the endoscopy department, for the excellent service I recieved on Thursday. Arriving very apprehensive the staff were emphatic and took all those apprehension away, I can’t say it was an enjoyable experience, but the members of your team made as pleasurable as possible. Thank you
Had an emergency visit Saturday pm and I can’t fault any of the staff. From paramedics Evie and Lauren to JJ and Dan in the ED dept and Theresa on Ilchester ward. They all made me feel safe and secure . A big thank you to you all and your teams for all you did to make me feel comfortable and cared for.
This poor review is related to Lulworth Ward who cared for my next of kin for 3 weeks who discharged with no communication of what the illness was and no understanding of why there was a follow up appt required at Poole hosp and inadequate …
Absolutely disgusting husband has just had vascular surgery cancelled for the third time this year. Have to rate 1 star to be able to comment. The organisation at this hospital is appalling I had to wait 2 years for urgent maxillofacial …
I was in today for a procedure on Easton ward. The nursing team were so amazing they were so kind and caring and helped in keeping me calm and happy. Thank you to the nursing team and the theatre team also for my care. A real credit to our NHS.
I would really like to thank CT staff James and Ciara. They were marvellous, kind, empathetic and made the dreaded scan, easy, comfortable and as l am physically disabled, they offered any help that was required. I cannot thank them enough. They are the NHS at its best
An outpatients appointment while unable to walk. Fantastic help from an ambulance crew, very prompt X-ray, consultation, re cast on my ankle and back home all within 2 hours. Absolutely fabulous. Thank you.
Was admitted on Xmas day with a broken femur, had surgery on Boxing Day. My care from the paramedics through to my after care in Ridgeway ward was exemplary. My sincere thanks go to everyone who was involved in my care. Congratulations to all the team on Ridgeway ward.
I was so impressed with the service and care given to me at the hospital yesterday for my operation. From the first person I met, they were all very friendly, helpful and gave me reassurance. The surgery went well and they were brilliant at …
After being taken into hospital by a very efficient ambulance crew, I was seen too and attended promptly by A&E staff. All I can say is thank you.
Not a good experience. I Felt like an inconvenience when I came round in the recovery room.
Because I’m a large person i heard a staff member say one member wouldn’t help …
Staff have always been compassionate and helpful.
I’ve been to many parts of this hospital and in every ward and department I’ve had nothing but professional, swift and compassionate service. …
Admitted on Christmas eve with pneumonia. Staff were extremely busy but the care I received was outstanding. Thank you DCH.
Can’t fault the nursing staff what so ever. However as for the so called senior positions they are as much use as a chocolate tea pot and thats putting it nicely. …
Visited with a sick child on the first day of our holiday. We have had experiences in many hospitals across the country including multiple lengthy stays at Great Ormond Street. So have a bit to compare against. …
Visited a and e here twice, both times I was seen to quickly. First time was appendicitis on a very busy Saturday night, was (rightfully) fast tracked a head of the large que in the waiting room and got diagnosed. The second time was a Sunday morning, I saw the nurses, got an xray, and the follow up all in 30 mins.
After contacting 111, I was sent to Dorchester hospital with suspected covid, it turned out to be a chest infection, as soon as I arrived, the staff couldn’t do enough for me, they did loads of tests and an x-ray. There’s not a lot you can …
A very nice hospital. We have been coming to the radiotherapy department which has its own car park. There has been a space every day, staff have been lovely and the hospital is very nice, comfortable and clean.
Although many of the nurses are kind and nurturing some are just down right rude and disrespectful and tried degrading my illness. I am still here and into my third month of my admission and am being put as last priority on the list of …
Partner went in for dislocated jaw, she waited 10 hours in a&e and was eventually told to go home as it wasn’t dislocated. 3 days later decided to go back as it wasnt getting any better, she was told again it wasn’t dislocated but …
This hospital has no means of transferring a patient from a wheelchair to a stretcher apparently.
Our step father had to wait instead for patient transport for a 4.30pm m.r.i …
Went to an out of hour GP who told me to see my regular GP. Told them that it was a month wait and they said they couldn’t help me. Went back in upset and they did explain it to me very calmly but I can’t help but feel like I’m just being …
Was put on abbotsbury ward after going to A&E for kidney treatment . I cannot fault the care I was given from everyone. Obviously you end up with you’re favourites. My three companions in the ward were very easy to get on with and very …
Zero stars from my experience (I had to press 1 to post).

She had 3 visits to AnE where we suspect the cancer was missed but can’t be …
The A&E team were so kind and thoughtful. Total professionals, thank you for all you help. Sunday from 5pm to 9pm shift huge 👏👏👏👍 to them all. Sadly reason why not 5 star was the RECEPTIONIST… On arrival ..used the phone service. Rude, …

Thank you so much to the staff at the Eye Day Surgical Unit and the Discharge Lounge for their wonderful treatment of me during my visit yesterday. Their kindness, thoughtfulness and consummate professionalism were really appreciated. …
Couldn’t leave zero stars, which is what they deserve!
The paramedics took 2.5 hours to arrive, despite being told they weren’t busy! Very condescending response from them. Just brushed off what they were being told …
Brilliant, I have just spent 4 days in Lulworth Ward with suspected Gallstones which gave me acute stomach pains after many tests and scans turned out to be the correct assessment. Having them removed by ERCP on Friday. From my experience …
Friendly and efficient staff and spotlessly clean everywhere
I am waiting for a fairly urgent appointment at the hospital. I have been waiting for a week and have just rung up and yes I have an appointment on 1st April. Only thing is that no one contacted me or placed it even on the NHS App. Disappointed.
Staff are dedicated and concerned, facilities are mostly new and good.
Appointment system pretty rubbish – long waits which could largely be significantly reduced with a bit of intelligent management. Sadly the hospital is getting …
On 11th May my elderly father John, who was involuntarily thrashing, shaking wildly and uncontrollably and unable to speak, was taken by ambulance by 2 wonderful paramedics who were fully up to speed from point of arrival and made excellent …
They’re actually doing the best they can which is unusual in this day and age.
It’s also unusual for the NHS at the moment. …

We brought our little one in A&E one time and she was attended immediately by a member of the team. The Nurses were attentive and really friendly. We felt that our child was looked after.
Currently up a&e and have a lovely woman seeing to me her name is Jasfer I think but she’s super lovely and has made me feel at ease and was quick with pain relief when I was in tears from pain. Was lovely to talk to her aswell and held a conversation, thank you Jasfer ❤️
Not easy to park at the moment as there is a lot of work going on to put in a multi storey car park. But when inside the hospital the care given was top level. They have some really good people working here that really want to help and are compassionate.
THANK YOU to all the staff who work here at DCH. You’re a great bunch of people from the nursing assistants to nurses. Thank you especially to the endoscopy team who looked after me last week. Special mention to the anethetist’s who were …
Went in for day surgery a week ago for a Cholecystectomy. Excellent all round from admission to discharge. All the staff were professional, friendly and put me totally at ease. 8 days later wounds healing beautifully and I feel great. Been out for a drive and a 3 mile walk. Thankyou all.
The staff are excellent, when my husband was rushed into hospital they looked after him so well. They have friendly staff and the volunteers who work there are a really good advocate for the hospital. …
Having taken my daughter to A & E on a couple of occasions due to not being able to see her local GP and having very little luck with the 111 number I was a little bit shocked to read the notice on the window of A & E stating they would …

Moreton Ward staff in specific were absolute Angels and patient with me almost to a fault, I did like to wander as I couldn’t sleep and was often AWOL when I was needed, the Sheriff soon got me back on track. 😁 …
A disgusting filthy hospital – I’m convinced my grandma contracted a bug whilst here and sadly passed due because of it, no doubt due to poor cleaning standards and then covered up by the hospital. Car parking facilities are a joke & …

A&E absolutely useless. Waiting long time inithe late evening just to take care of very deep finger cut-no need to see a doctor just nurse to look after. Finally we left hospital being told twice “oh just a minute, I don’t know why still …
Thank you to all the staff on duty in A&E, CT scan and observation ward 27/28 September. My husband was given the best treatment after falling downstairs in holiday home. As a carer I was fully involved and my knowledge valued. Thank you everyone, including the ambulance team.
We had to take our 11 week old baby in to Dorchester hospital after speaking to one of the doctors on the phone. The doctor we seen was absolutely amazing and could not fault in the slightest. He was willing to listen to us in regards to what was wrong and found that he had an ear infection in both ears.
My daughter broke her arm on the second day of a weeks holiday.
Whilst I cannot fault the staff and waiting time at your A&E dept – I now …
Brilliant NHS hospital and staff. I dislike the car parking, it should be free for patients and staff, although staff would be better in an out of town car park with a minibus service in as patients need to be close to the services they are attending and often there is no space at all to Park.

Today my son harvey came in to kingfisher ward to have a minor op.
I can’t thank the staff enough. They were all so kind and made sure he knew what …
My husband recently underwent colonoscopy and received first class treatment from Dr Ng and his excellent team. Professionalism, good humour and empathy from all staff with clear explanation of the procedure from reception to discharge. We are so fortunate to have such a hospital and staff. Thank you everyone.
Various visits for appointments etc. Overall I would give the hospital an excellent rating. The staff are really helpful and usually run to time. If they are running late they are quick to tell you. Parking is rarely easy and, like most a&e departments, there always seems to be a long wait if you have to go for an emergency.
Friendly reception staff and clinic nurses. Seen nearly on time.
Masks not now compulsory. Parking a bit difficult as a new multistorey car park is under construction at June 2022.
Had a radial angiography in the cardiology department on
03.12.20.
Absolutely amazing treatment from this incredibly kind an professional team , from the consultants, doctors and nurses. Your amazing…….thank you so much.👍👍🌟🌟 …
After a nasty fall Dorchester hospital looked after me so well. I needed emergency surgery and a bed was found really quickly. Yes, staff are really busy but were so kind. I was in shock and scared but they were great. I am having pysio there now and the staff are great there too. A big thanks from me and my family.
Staff were excellent but the Drs let them down badly. I was kept in for 6 days purely because the Drs were invisible. I should’ve been out in 2 max 3 days. It then took nearly 2 hours to get my medical certificate signed because the Dr was …
My partner went to the toilet whilst there and there was someone’s blood all over the bathroom?!?! Some of the staff are really lovely but unfortunately I’ve found that the majority are a bunch of patronising Bullies!
A holiday mishap led us to the A&E. At every step the staff were faultless and could not have been kinder. …
I have had two hips replaced and cannot rate the staff highly enough, it is never great going into hospital, however I always tell people how good they are, I have also visited A&E either for myself or my kids and cannot fault the staff or …
It’s an NHS hospital trust, my visit was to have a surgical procedure done, the ward was spotless, the staff attentive and helpful, nursing staff, were as in many hospital settings very busy, and run off their feet, food provided was of a …
Would like to say a big thank you to all staff at A and E also the lovely paramedics that looked after me today 🌹🌹😁 …

The Endoscopy Department department were fantastic today caring for my mother. Thank you so much. You are all heroes working in DCH
I went many times with respiratory problems and they didn’t want to say it was anxiety which was actually the problem I was having so I had to cope with it for a really long time, they only gave to me paracetamol which didn’t helped at all …
The Dermatology department could not have provided better service since I was referred by my GP. The minor operations and follow up while a difficult wound healed demonstrated the NHS at its very best. A heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to the whole department.
Really great hospital! Staff are really friendly and really good with kids, all staff can point you in the right direction if you’re lost as it is a big hospital. You can’t really say hospital visits are always enjoyable however the staff will always try to make your stay better and are always there if you need assistance.
My sister was in Dorchester hostpitail back last October in the Prince of Wales word The treatment she got was just awful. She had a minor heartack and no one informed us this had happened. She was in there a foutnight when she came home …
Hey, I understand the overwhelming pressures on the NHS but please be a little more considerate the next time someone presents clearly flustered and panicked due to a worrying turn. Maybe also let him finish his medical history, including …
Disappointing attitude when we left , everything was ok up to that point. But when discharged we were treated like 2nd class citizens!!! The lady on reception was a lot friendlier and treated us better and we made sure we thanked her when we left. Not good
My mum went in yesterday morning and the nurses and doctors said there’s nothing to worry about it’s just a chest infection so that was good news I would recommend this hospital even if your sick or just visiting and can I thank the doctors and nurses for their support and help
Very disappointed with the hospital and I don’t say that lightly as, I think we have amazing doctors and nurses, however I admitted my self to a&e with tummy pain even after going to my gp who gave me antibiotics no test carried out was …
Very rude staff!!! My wife thought my 4 month ols son had the measels because he had some spots onchis body and went to Dorchester hospital where they didnt allow her to enter the hospital with a “highly infective deasease” like this was the local pub and not the hospital. I wish they could hire better staff. More
Some of the staff are brilliant, others have an awful attitude but the worst part is the car park. It is impossible to attend an appointment on your own because it can take up to an hour to get a parking space!
