Write a ReviewHad to take my 91 year old dad to the vascular department. I can’t thank the staff enough made us feel so welcome we were seen to within minutes. They even made dad and I a cup of tea. The consultant explained everything they were going to do and arranged an overnight stay while he has a little operation. Thank you so much.
Only second time that I’ve had to visit for an appointment to see a surgeon. Caught bus from priory Park and ride and arrived early because later bus would have been too late for appointment. Walked into infirmary at 9-13.Went straight to …
So they looked after me and that’s good I had an MRI and the doc gave me the bad news there and then, but. I was left all night in pain, and when the pain became extreme (I could not walk) it took 2hrs to get help. …
The most discusting Hospital and baddest, i have to wait 5 hours in half to see me a doctor for 3 or 4 min, this hospital is not Emergency, is unacceptable to wait this hours in pain and nurse to do not give a thing about you…. and not …
My 87 year old Father sat in A&E for 11 hours yesterday in pain. He sat on a hard chair all this time. He was not offered a lie down. He wasn’t offered a drink for 9 hours. He was asked if it really was an emergency. Not been able to pass …
A and E excellent and all the nurses and doctors were fantastic.
The nurses on the ward were very surprised my mother was sent home early.
Clearly a decision made for the wrong reasons …
Had to visit the endoscopy ward tonight for a colonoscopy. What fantastic staff from the reception through to recovery. Very professional friendly lovely people made you feel really at ease and explained everything in detail so you were as …
It has been three hours and my 2 year old son still hasn’t been seen. I was informed that there is 1doctor on shift. There were two security men patrolling the corridors and looking out for unreasonable behaviour. Surprisingly lots of …
My experience of this hospital was wonderful the staff could not have been more professional and caring. Yes, there was long wait in A&E, but that was down to people who had neither some form of accident or emergency. If the general public used A&E as it should be used things would improve rapidly.
Been waiting for a Gall bladder operation for over 4 year, took 2 year to diagnose, feel like Im dying everyday and being neglected, no meds, nothing. Something wrong with this place and the way it is run like a free for all it is. …
i was at a&e on Saturday 18th feb 2023. i arrived at 11:30, seen around 3pm and released at 17:30ish. I have been having severe morning sickness 4-5x a day in early pregnancy and gp was unwilling to help the day before so i ended up in the …
Called 111 and been advised to go to A&E.
I was 9 weeks pregnant and puking blood, some tummy cramps as well. …
WORST A&E in the country!!! Told me I had an ulcer for 7 months with no scans no thing until I collapsed and almost died due to infection in my gallbladder which had leaked into my liver and almost killed me! I lost an organ due to them – …
Had a cyst removed from my butt yesterday and received excellent service! I guess they’ve had lots of experience dealing with pain in the àrśè tories, so the procedure was a doddle! …
I attended Hull Royal Infirmary’s Platics Trauma Unit on 21/03/23 & 22/03/23 after a close encounter with a chainsaw blade across 3 fingers. The care I received from hospital staff was first class. Everybody was friendly and helpful and the …
Terrible experience, moved my Mum out to a care home after procedure, seriously poorly, needed nursing care, nxt day 999,rushed into Gy hospital, infection, dehydrated, sadly passed away, not even informed family being discharged, serious …
Not bad but you do get a lot of people outside smoking even though it states no smoking on hospital grounds but they do allow you vape so that’s a good thing if you vape.
Today I travelled 70 miles to visit my mother in law who is an in patient.
To my surprise the toilets on the ground floor at the general entrance were out of order. A sign informed me that the toilet on the first floor was available. …
Staff doing their best but the Tory government wants the NHS to fail so they can sell it off. Most of the Tory front bench are financially connected to private healthcare.
My grandma has been in and out of hospital for 3 months. The second time she was in hospital she was in for 4 weeks. She was moved to 4 or 5 different wards, including a cancer ward. Which wasn’t ideal as that wasn’t the ward she should of …
Just spent 11 hours now and receptionists lying..my condition is getting worst..wanna go home now but scared if I will have heart attack..same happened with my 8 years old kid..we brought him 3 times to A&E..the doctor said HE IS …
Took from 1.30am monday morning until 23.15 Monday night to find me a bed had to sit on a hard plastic chair only water to drink no food no hot drinks been offered at all and I’m a type 2 diabetic too! I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT HOSPITAL AGAIN!!
A+E 11 hours to see a doctor who didn’t know what was causing back and groin pain to be told go home and take more pain relief. There appears to be more security staff that work in A+E than medical staff so sad really.
Just spent 7 hrs again in the A&E dept waiting for results on my partners MRI scan she had this morning…..staff at the desk rude and more interested in showing each other holiday snaps on their phones than doing their jobs when asked why …
Amazing icu2 saved my life and gave me treatment and care I needed which was above and beyond what I expected
I would not be here today if not for there early treatment
The worst place ever!! Had to wait 9 hours for nurses to understand the most common stomach ache ever!! When I told them that I know it’s my appendix and need to operate they do some unnecessary pragnacy test for what?? Waste of time this …
I was forced to attend A&E in excruciating pain with an exisiting condition 4 days ago.
The best noun to described A&E at HRI is carnage. It was like a cattle market. …
Terrible hospital but the new fancy modern entrance looks nice. The money should have been spent sorting out the abysmal wait times.
My review is for Alex (housekeeping) ward 70
She is one in a million and deserves a better title than housekeeper, she is more competent than most of the nurses on the ward and needs recognising as an …
Terrible place. Zero stars. So if someone isn’t mobile and needs assistance getting to the commode is it normal practice for staff to say they can’t be bothered because it means getting a bed lift and they they tell patients they just need …
I’ve been staying on ward 40 and have to say the staff that has been looking after me have been extremely nice, the care they have given me has been top quality, it has to be the best hospital I’ve stayed in ,thank you ward 40 I will never …

Went in on the 29-11-22 and was very disappointed.. instead of looking after very sick patients and helping them out while they had 6hr+ wait they were all gathered around watching football… when we have asked them to change the drip due …
Absolutely impossible to get someone to answer the phone, department and operator ring and ring and then say the call can’t be answered. Department name not recognised (rheumatology)
The staff was super nice to me. I am terrified of hospitals so whenever someone tried to touch me/ taking my blood I started sweating , shaking , shouting random things and speaking incredibly fast. They handled me so well and they didn’t …
First class care for my 93 yr old father last night from the fantastic professional Ambulance crew who turned up assessed and took my father to Hull Royal A+E .and all the staff nurses Drs HCA and porters who got him seen cared for and returned home with a outpatient appointment .
Visited yesterday. Ambulance staff excellent and all A and E efficient, caring and pleasant..
Couldn’t be happier with the level of care they gave my girlfriend and new daughter. The midwives were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. And while we had less interaction with other doctors and nurses, when we did, they provided excellent care.
Great service from overworked, underpaid, highly qualified staff. Only complaint would be the prices at Costa coffe. Quite extortionate
Brought my partner here as we was travelling from Boston, while in the car my partner had concerns that he had taken his medication twice , having epilepsy his memory is not good . …

Everyone goes on about how wonderful nurses, paramedics and doctors are but in my personal experience….No. they are like the police don’t really care and to be fair have awful attitudes.
Sent here by 111 due to trouble breathing caused by a tooth infection and they couldn’t get me into a dentist for 3 days leading up to this point. When I arrived reception staff were rude and didn’t think I needed to be there. Doctor that I …
Admitted for brain surgery, within the time they gave me. Surgeon and all the staff were amazing. I was well looked after on ward 4 and ward 40. Can’t thank everyone enough.

Was at children’s a&e and in overnight in tower block for my toddler’s asthma attack. Excellent staff, caring and kind, ward room to ourselves. This is not my first experience of the excellent care available here. I’m sure some people have …
I was sent to A&E after visiting an injuries unit and getting checked first. (I handed in the report given to me by the injuries unit to confirm this).
Dr at A&E accused me of just “turning up”, and didn’t even have the decency to …
So sat in A&E now for a delightful four hours, surrounded by the finest Hull has to offer, sadly a poor endorsement for the area as the vast majority of the people waiting are clearly heroin or cocaine addicts. Witnessed a poor chap on a …
I have had reason to visit this hospital many times over the years and have heard of the horror stories told about this place. All I can say is that I have waited for what seemed like an eternity in A&E when all you want is to be attended …
I have been a patient at this facility since 1999 and although the neurology ward was not very appealing at first I soon learnt to look beyond that. The staff were very professional in their approach and yet still friendly, I was a repeat …
Absolutely disgusted and disheartened at the experience I had at Hull royal a&e last night. I initially rang 111 and was told to go to Beverley urgent treatment centre for vomiting blood. They referred me straight through to hull royal a&e …

Had to attend due to having an Asthma Attack and while I was waiting in the waiting room I started to get worse with my inhaler running out. We informed the receptionist who was rude and insited on telling us that I would have to wait a …
Great staff. Had to attend twice fo elderly father. Saturday night and very busy, staff were great. Kept us informed and apologetic about wait time. Had to attend again today. Nurse Practitioner, Clare, was great, nothing was too much trouble. Can’t fault the service, many thanks to all the staff.
Staff are great. Trying their damn hardest with lack of resources and understaffing
Ambulance to Scarborough Hospital and then onward transfer to Hull Royal Infirmary following a fall and spinal fracture. Big thank you to North Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff / Mr Lee / HRI staff / Ward 4 (Paul / Tracy / Megan et al) for looking after me. Really appreciated and keep up the great work :@)

My 88 year old mother was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. The AAU, to which she was admitted, was rather old and shabby, but the staff were tremendous. She was then transferred to the respiratory high dependency unit, which was …
My sister was rushed into A & E due to a severe medical condition. Needed to stay in there until a bed became available at the assessment unit? Offered no drink and hardly checked in on. I understand this is a very busy hospital but to lack of staff the care was appauling. Nurses was rushing about doing their best all night.
Massively shorted staffed from nurses and doctors right through to security! Cigarette smoke blown in your face outside the door as you try to enter then huge waiting times to be assessed, even with a 2 week old baby! The staff nurses and …
A monument to the superhuman effort of those who work in healthcare, they always try their hardest with what resources they have and no doubt have eased the suffering of tens of thousands of people; despite personal experiences the gravity of the place always puts this into perspective
