I wish we didn’t have to visit here at all but as we do we’re immensely grateful …
Absolutely amazing hospital with many different services on offer. The staff are always kind, friendly and willing to help with whatever you may need. A special shoutout to the Domestics team, they work incredibly hard and don’t always get the appreciation they deserve. Amazing people all round.
I had an outpatient endoscopy appointment. The staff were pleasant and helpful from reception onwards. The waiting area is hospital-functional rather than luxurious and there can be delays so bring a book or magazine or talk with others! …
This is for Neuroscience Blue ward – the services we had was very unpleasant! Seems like all these “NHS heroes” thing has gone into some of these people’s heads!!! …
Great care, let down by shamefully inadequate catering provision
First meal after 4 days of sickness followed by emergency surgery-
jacket potato with cheese and beans (vegetarian patient) …
Maternity services – Level 5
I had an awful experience in this ward after giving birth to my son. He was born 7 months ago but I was too upset to write this earlier. …
I went to A&E last night, may 1st, I was extremely shocked by the aggressive, hostile and rude behaviour by the blonde youngish female nurse. …
My experience of the walk-in A and E on 30 January 2023 was fantastic. I checked in at once, was triaged by a nurse within 5 minutes and about an hour later was given a detailed examination by a specialist GP, which included an ECG. She …
Spent 11 hours here for something that could have been dealt with in probably 2/3 hours. This is reflective of the poor funding and NHS system and likely not reflective of JR Hospital. Despite this, every single staff member who approached …
I entered the emergency department at 23:00 for a migraine, pain in the neck and left shoulder. I was experiencing numbness and an electric shock in my left arm and my left leg. When I was finally seen by a doctor, it was 5h10 the following …
Recently experienced the Emergency Department and Paediatric wards. A scary time with an unwell child, but the staff were incredible. We received timely investigations and management, with excellent aftercare already put into place. The …
The best nurses and doctors! Very busy and understaffed but couldn’t do more to make me feel at ease.
Love the JR.
Pay rises all round!!!
Waiting in A and E for 3.5 hrs, and still not been seen by a nurse. This is despite the fact we had been sent here from another hospital in oxfordshire.
Finally left the hospital at 2am, and by 4am, our daughter was on a trolly in a …
A great hospital with patient friendly staff and loads of facilities but it’s a struggle to find the car park space when you need it. However, if you have an early appointment staring at 8:40 am you have a better chance of finding a place. Also, the car park charge of £1:40 per hour is a bit steep.
Over the top rude!!!
Have been driving around looking for parking for an hour. Called their operator, he basically said it’s not his problem, figure it out. I wouldn’t want to go to this hospital if it were ever a real emergency!!
Wonderful staff and great care always asking if you need something my son who is 11 had to get put to sleep so they could drain his check that had pus in it and the made sure we was calm and felt safe leading up to the anisetic and has a Lovly bed to come back to to sleep in
I was only admitted last night, so I may need to update this at a later date. But as yet, the hospital is clean, tidy, new-ish, well run, nice food, large rooms and bathrooms, great big windows in the room – so loads of natural light, free …
A big thank you to all the nurses and staff on the trauma unit ward 2A for taking good care of my mum,you did a fantastic job
Excellent care given to my husband in aau. The staff were so professional, kind and very thoughtful in every way. Can’t thank them enough.
It is exasperating trying to get hold of someone. I’ve tried calling the women’s department dozens of times last week to move an appointment and to get advice on a concerning issue. Mostly got a hung call with ‘call failed’ message and then …
Went to see the gastroenterology specialist yesterday after having uncontrollable vomiting issues, extreme weight loss, lower abdomen pain and having had no food since the end of October. …
On behalf of a family member…. very unsatisfactory…Poor communication with patients, traumatic birth experience and further treatment that caused life altering consequences… MOST nurses were caring and helpful …
My daughter was waiting in the emergency room for 7 hours yesterday!!!!
No doctor saw her even though she had an emergency admission. Staff rude and incompetent!!! …
disgusting attitude towards me, rung up the JR about an infection in the mouth, told me to drive to A&E as they said they could provide me an injection for my pain, drove up to JR, got there told them about the call I had and they got very …
Ordinary food for extraordinary people.
Busy place, lovely staff, They took care of me when i needed them when I had injured myself, when you need the help support and care the ladies and gentlemen of the john radcliffe hospital 24/7 are always there, Thank you so much 😊 …
I am a recently retired orthopaedic surgeon and was recently admitted to the JR as an emergency. From the emergency ambulance paramedics to Resus to ITU for five nights to John Warin ward for another 10 nights, I had the most fantastic and …
Hospital looks nice and modern but the care my husband received while in the neuroscience ward was awful. He was left with no food, water, or pain medication for hours, and also no way of communicating as he is deaf, and no-one tried to …
Waiting times are horrible and long. I rang 111 and they told me that they would send a message to the hospital as it was important but been waiting for long time. The nurses and doctors don’t speak loud enough to hear our names
Attended craniofacial unit with my son, care was exemplary and aftercare continued to be great. Such a reassuring service.
CMU A My husband was on the ward for several weeks during the hot weather earlier this year.. I was delighted to see how much care was given, to ensure the people cared for, were comfortable and hydrated. The atmosphere on the ward was one …
My husband has stayed in the CTCCU for over 2weeks … the staff were outstanding, they are friendly and very kind, making his stay more bearable we are very thankful to all the staff.
Waited 7 hours in A&E with burning abdominal pain. The receptionists were more caring than the medical staff, who seem to only consist of one main nurse doing a short assessment that didn’t include palpitating my area of pain or being able …
My daughter was admitted as an emergency last week and spent a week there after surgery. The JR was medically excellent. Some things there are difficult ie staffing , parking etc but who cares ? The medical care was exemplary. Thank you to all those who looked after Saoirse so very well.
Saved my life and many others all over the globe more than once.
God Bless John Radcliffe and all staff past and present.
Thank you
A great hospital with amazing staff members. I have been to this hospital a few times for various different reasons and I can not speak highly enough for this hospital and its customer service. One of the best hospitals in the UK and you …
Just got discharged from the emergency department. Some slight waiting times, but the experience was overwhelmingly positive from the point the ambulance came to the nurses and x-ray specialists to the receptionists and especially the …
Awful waiting times in A&E, had xray and needed to wait 9 hours for results. Left in a room for hours without the foggiest idea what was going on.
Thank you and of course fantastic paramedics for saving my husbands life . After having a heart attack . Your care to him and myself very much appreciated x
Just had the quietest and quickest visit to the JR accident and emergency department. Checked in and seen the triarge team within 30 minutes of arrival. We were then moved to a quiet GP section and waited for 5 people to be seen, then I …
This hospital is fantastic and down to all of the staff working there! I had to go to A&E and the empathy that was shown from my first arrival from the receptionists, nurses, doctors and then surgeons and anaesthetists was second to none! …
Fantastic hospital, everyone is so friendly and genuine. Very punctual and professional hospital
A few weeks ago had to go there for a cut on the eye. They treated it nice and gave every thing I need the only problem is parking and waiting time.
On Friday, I fell off my bike and broke my collarbone. An ambulance took me to this hospital. Half the night I waited for my turn in the corridor. My clothes were cut in the ambulance, I was half naked. I felt cold. Once I even lost …
So rude and inconsiderate staff especially maternity baby ward. My sister gave birth after so much complications and all we asked the staff to let her meet her mother and they go like no her mother in law is inside with the mother. Now, you …
After receiving tablets from our local doctors which advised not to take if you have vomited blood which is exactly what they were prescribed for, my partner was then rushed to the Horton hospital in Banbury and after a 5 hour wait there …
I get treated here for
My chronic migraines and they are all
So helpful . I wouldn’t know what to do without them !
hospital emergency- we waited for 3:30 for my dad to see a doctor, his glucose 28.4 and they did nothing. they just asked him to pee, and they didn’t medicate him. They didn’t give insulin or medicine. they told him to go to the GP the …
I gave birth to the most beautiful baby boy at this hospital a week ago. I would like to thank the whole team that helped deliver my baby as well as my favourite Midwifes there: Trish – she was fantastic. I felt safe and very well looked …
Arrived early for a Saturday appointment expecting to find parking problems, however plenty of space directly outside the department I needed, excellent!
Waiting times at the A&E department are completely unacceptable! Posting this at 8:30am having been here since 3:30am. 5 hours so far and no hope of seeing a doctor any time soon. A wait of 5+ hours to deal with an emergency is not acceptable!
I’m giving this unit a 1 star because of the customer service towards younger women is disgraceful. I would not recommend anyone between the ages of 16-28 to go to this unit as they will treat you horribly and unfair and they will always …
Nurses and doctors were very proffesional. However I was accused of stealing an empty can of some spray that was left on the side , I shook it to make sure it was empty and it was so I took it to reuse the cap and nozzle. All of the doctors …
Best service and help received at the emergencies services. Arrived with an unbereable pain due to a broken rib and the waiting time was minimum. Got given a painkiller as soon as and was sent for an x ray straight away which they both …
Absolutely appalled by experience with Emergency Department Psychiatric Service (EDPS Psychiatric. Undoubtedly someone less resilient than me will commit an act of self harm or suicide when met by the compassionless response to contact. …
Over ten years ago now. This hospital saved my mother life and I can say no more there. She had a Brian tumour which they operated on.
The facilities were brilliant has well.
Nothing wrong here.
Just had a rather unexpected weekend holiday stay here as an inpatient. Aside from the obvious, it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. The staff I encountered were all amazing (and I do mean all), and the level of care and attention …
Considering i was a healthy 18 year old who began vomiting blood for no reason and nearly 10 hour wait in A&N is excessive. When i did get seen it all went quickly and well but the wait times are too long. There weren’t even that many …
9 hour wait – waiting room was totally empty. Took 3 hours for pain relief and then nurse came out with paracetamol (for broken bones). Staff were standing around chatting. …
I was well looked after in the cardiothoracic department , after suffering a surgery this week. The whole team that looked after me during my hospital stay was incredible. Very calm and reassuring, always happy to help me and to make sure …
One of the worst hospitals ever. Waiting almost 5-7 hours to be seen by a doctor. Children department @A & E is the worst. They kept on telling us one more patient ahead when all the patients came after us left much earlier then us. All the tax money going to waste.
I was waiting with my wife for about 6h in total, in that time she went in to be seen twice and the 3rd time they told her that she needs to wait for the gynecologist to see her. …
If we hadn’t brought my mum here she would still be with us. Standards in hospital have dropped dramatically for people needing Urgent care and attention. My mum went in able to talk normally and function within a week she deteriorated …
Awful, awful parking (took almost 30 mins), and so far waiting over 45 mins for an appointment that was booked months and months ago. Definitely wouldn’t survive like this if people had a choice! (Note that this refers purely to the car parking and organisation of the building, I’m assuming the medical staff are wonderful!6
Doctors and nurses are brilliant but and it’s a big but! The Hospital food is disgusting you most probably get better food in prison! And that’s being nice… i ended up going to M&S and paying for some healthy food for my daughter …
I can’t comment on the treatment the hospital gives, but the parking situation for visitors, staff and patients is an absolute disgrace. I guess Oxford CC are trying to reduce air pollution by not making it car friendly, so the deep …
The male nurse Salim/Saleem (not sure of the exact spelling of his name) in the Accident and Emergency Injury department was extremely rude, arrogant and disrespectful to the last T. He left no stone unturned in trying to humiliate me as a …
The staff saved my husband’s life. What an incredible people you are. You were so organised and professional. I cannot thank you enough <3 xx
Jill tonight on the accident and emergency team , reception , was amazing . Caring , thoughtful , and a genuine lovely person , thank you so much for finding me that phone , it was truly needed , selina x
My son was transferred to JR emergency department following a car accident. The receptionist, I think her name was Samma, when I called went above and beyond to find out what was happening to him and to keep me informed. It helped so much and so thank you as I know you were very busy.
NHS hospital after all, but in general they are great.
Parking is really bad though, if you don’t get there early or have a blue badge I would find another way of getting there without a car
I attended the MRI department yesterday evening ( 10/02/2018).
The reception, facilities and technicians etc were all excellent.
I was seen promptly and the whole process was pain free. …
My 92 year old mother had a couple of falls on her right arm and her arm and shoulder weren’t getting any better or any less painful. Dr google suggested soft tissue injury so I (her 63 year old not medically trained daughter) treated …
I went to get my braces done today and it was a awful experience. They were supposed to come off nearly a two years ago. I have been given false promises, my tooth has been chipped as well as my cheek being cut because they are so …
We are incredibly lucky to have the JR as our local hospital. I took our daughter to the A&E dept one afternoon recently and I was amazed at how efficiently and quickly we were processed. My daughter was assessed, x-rayed and had a …
Easy to find, although its best to use the Park & Ride as parking is limited
I’ve just returned from having an operation to remove my appendix. All of the staff; from the nurses, the surgeons and the doctors could not have been kinder, more reassuring and patient with me. A huge thank you to everyone for making my stay as comfortable as possible, especially those on ward 6E. Keep up th good work!
They have been fantastic so far with my daughter who is currently in the intensive care unit, sadly. They have done all that they can, so hopefully sooner rather than later this little girl will be able to have cuddles with her parents, …
Worst parking at any hospital I have ever been to. For the size of hospital the parking facilities are abysmal, and those that exist need a bit of repair. Congestion surrounding the hospital can be bad also. It has been like this for years …
Exceeded my expectations big time! Had to have an urgent surgery done and from the moment I walked in the staff was so friendly, helpful and informative. Excellent care from the doctors and nurses who would come and check up on me almost …
