Write a ReviewThe little kingfishers play centre is the first place we have found where we can actually relax and let our granddaughter run about, being only 2 and autistic it is extremely difficult to find anywhere safe. Ample parking and adjoined to …
We visited for the 1st time today with our 4yr old Twins. We were very impressed. Changing areas were clean, tidy and warm. Pool was great, good temperature and nice depths so that the kids could still touch the bottom whilst building their …
I was enjoying the experience until I noticed an old plaster stuck to the floor on the way back from the lockers to the pool. It had clearly been there a while. And while I was in the pool I noticed a plaster stuck to the fake rocks by the …
I take swim lessons here. The pool depth is the same for each lane. This helpful for getting lengths in while I build confidence. There are deeper lanes for more seasoned swimmers. The instructors are great too.
I’m a regular gym goer here and it’s a bit lacklustre. It is missing some essential gym equipment in my opinion, plus there is only one cable machine which is hard to spend time on, as even in the quietest hours of the day as some people …
I do not have any experience of this place as it is impossible to book online without the app installed dispite having an account with them. I will not install apps if they refuse to provide me with the coding language used for my platform …
Excellent swimming teachers 👌 changing room floor could do with a clean, enjoyable swim though. Water temperature nice and warm as were the showers . …
Part of the reason why visiting family in Sudbury always feels like a holiday. The family sessions are good fun if you’ve got kids, weekend mornings are busy but towards lunchtime a bit less so. The wave machine and slides are a big hit with my little one.
Kingfisher is by far the best place for going swimming, I absolutely loved it 30 years ago & now my children all love it too!!! It’s incredible how nostalgic I felt going there again. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there are plenty of …
Visited today for the first time. Went to the float and fun session. First impressions was how clean the changing room was. I really liked the shoes off policy to enter the changing area and think it really makes a huge difference to its …
Lots of 0600 swims done here this year. The pool is a good temperature. Must swimmers pool etiquette is good but there is the odd one who should clearly be in a different lane but the lifeguards never enforce common sense.
Excellent Leisure Centre
Back to normal now post the height of the Pandemic.
Needs continuing investment from the local authority for repairs etc.
Great staff, a nice place to go.
Lovely pool area, friendly staff, nice changing area but the pool is way too cold
Lovely pool especially for young children – the parking outside is free on Sundays and the old railway line next door is a great family walk
A real asset to Sudbury
“Customer service”? No, haven’t heard of it. Waited for 30 minutes in vain for someone to appear at admin’s desk to ask about aqua aerobics.
Swimming pool is great. Good wave machine and the kids like the slide. Slightly chilly but fine if you keep moving. Nice clean changing rooms. The cafe is an absolute shambles though. Wrong drinks orders delivered and chips that never …
Absolutely freezing in Soft Play area today (Sunday 11th)! Heating not adequate or simply not working. Breastfeeding Mum sitting in cold – not good enough. Spoilt an otherwise happy experience with four year old grandson. Needs sorting Kingfisher!
This place hasn’t changed since I was a child, it was clean enough but the booked times of one hour are just a bit silly at this point and just seem like more of a money making venture to get you in and out. They didn’t have any arm bands …
Much better since the changing rooms have been refurbished.
April 2023, £6 for a child to swim is a bit expensive. And the WiFi is shocking, constantly dropping out. No good if you need to work whilst your child is swimming.
Lovely clean pool love taking my 4 /5 year old here. 🙂
Very busy on a Sunday at 2pm today. Not entirely disabled friendly or for those who have high sensory needs but we thought we would try it out. Maybe not for us again. There was many things to play with in the family fun time though.
Clean and the staff are more friendly and engaging then they where 4 years ago. Mostly new staff.
I’ve loved the kingfisher ever since I was little, the only problem is it would be nice I’d they updated the pool some how as its been the same pretty much ever since its opened. They’ve spent so much money vampire up the gym and changing …
As leisure centres go it’s good but lacking in organisation regarding clubs
Wet and (not so) wild session booked.
Flume was open and woggles and other floating aids were tossed into the pool for entertainment. The swimming lanes were not in operation to enlargen the play …
Great pool, we had coloured bands so we thought we’d get told to leave after a certain time but we didn’t.
We had a good couple of hours in the pool, the flumes were on the majority of …
Free parking, loads of room to play and swim on family fun days. Wave machine and slide only seem to be available once an hour. Life guards are on top of safety so great for kids.
Lovely little pool. Has lanes and plenty of space for kids with a nice gentle slope entering the pool.
Usually very clean and have the odd enthusiastic member of staff, but not many. You gave to pay now for only an hour, yes 1 single hour which is overpriced for a family of 5ije ourselves. The wave machine wasn’t on today so kids had to contend with the manky part chewed floats.
Local, handy, easy to use services. Pools a little cold.
Used the swimming pool and was pretty happy overall with the facilities, receptionist was helpful and friendly too
Staff always friendly. Not always the cleanest considering new changing rooms but it is hard to keep pool sides clean all the time.
Great children’s swimming lessons and teachers.
Systems in place re Covid are really good. Pool is pleasant, clean and a good temperature for swimming. Only complaint is people are obviously wearing outdoor shoes while using the toilets making the floor dirty, though changing cubicles and walkways are usually clean.
Friendly, fully equipped gym and swimming leisure pool. Suitable for all levels of ability and fitness. Good hygiene and social distancing measures in place. Well organised group fitness classes held in the car park just outside. Easy to book activities through app
It’s a great shame as the pool itself is good size, perfect for a swim if you’re a tall person who likes swimming alongside the deep part. Sadly, looking at the bottom of the pool, as I do my lengths, I can see dozens of plasters dancing …
New renovations have enhanced an already excellent leisure centre. There is an extensive programme of activities for all ages and tastes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially after the national lockdown. Very simple to book online for one off visits or memberships. The cafe is good for drinks and light lunches.
I’ve spent nearly an hour trying to book a swimming slot online. The website forced me to join and become a member before it would let me past the booking a lane bit. Now that I’ve joined it’s simply impossible to book a swimming lane/find …
Great family pool, love coming here. Can sometimes be crowded at peak times but generally ok. A few improvements could be made, the coffe shop could increase its range of veggie snacks and customers should be notified prior to purchasing …
Loved my swimming session today…also very hot latte and snack from cafe enjoyed in comfy chair..
Swimming pool is way to small. Paid a lot for a family ticket for the privilege of what seemed like swimming with the entire population of Sudbury. I couldnt move more than a meter before having to navigate around someone; I might as well …
Only used the kids soft play area, but this was brilliant. My son had a wonderful time running around, while my wife and I enjoyed coffee from their small café inside. Met lots of other friendly parents, too, which made the stay more enjoyable.
The pool was absolutely freezing to the point where my child was shivering (we were in the pool for 20minutes max) The changing rooms were absolutely disgusting and stunk of urine. It was like they hadnt been cleaned in a good few years. …
Took my five year old here for some swimming fun in the half term.
Tried looking at all the relevant details online but the website isn’t great, definitely not mobile friendly. …
As per all abbeycroft pools in the area, if you are a swimmer who trains and hence uses fins, paddles, snorkel etc, just don’t ever go there or bother trying. The pool, ironically does not allow any equipment to be used. If, on the other …
Free parking, it’s close to train/bus stations and near to town centre.
Swimming pool, swimming lessons, Gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, dance classes etc. …
I’ve seen the changing rooms bad before but today were disgusting. Mud everywhere and whole place smelled of urine. Sundays definitely to be avoided
A great place for family to go and swim, the prices are good and we even stayed and had lunch and used the soft play. The changing rooms are currently being refurbished so once that is complete I’m sure this venue will be a lot more modern. …
I’m a local person and enjoy this pool about 3 times a week. It’s a decent sized pool and has a nice atmosphere. It’s waves machine is calm for the little ones and on wet and wild it gets busy but it’s fine. 5 stars!
I went to a ‘wet ‘n wild’ swimming session. It was incredibly over crowded, the whistle of the Life guards was blown near constantly at times, and generally it wasn’t well organised or worth the money I spent on it.
The Kingfisher swimming pool is a very nice place with a children’s play area too. The pool is never cold and it has a great wave machine, the flumes are brilliant too however the downside for me is the changing facilities and chlorine. The …
A great pool! Super organised and great that you can use your own dedicated changing room before and after your session. Love the family bubble sectioned off pool.
This used to be a great place but we have tried to visit twice in the last 6 months to find that the pool is closed for “private use”. The soft play is now also closed until spring. Because closing the soft play over winter, the main season …
Arrived with two kids that can swim on a Sunday at 8am pool opening time.
Adults swimming in the pool already, told we were not aloud to swim until 10am. …
Would not reccomend im new to area no idea expected somewhat some support didnt get that i made the error on the booking page they couldnt or accomadate or refund would not reccomend heard whilst at the reception equipment was broken they didnt know whats wrong with it think u will stick to what i know in the future
We like kingfishers. Nice little play area (coffee is a bit yuck!) It’s in good repair and fairly clean. Does get absolutely rammed tho and their is little access to the baby area due to so many tables in the way.
I bring my daughter to the disabled play sessions every month it’s fantastic and she loves it Julie and the team are brilliant and the kids love them. The arts and crafts are well organized. The price is great 🙂
Play area review only:
The play area is great and my kids spend hours running around, the only thing i would say is the food is not the best. …
Booked a float and fun swim session, not enough floats to go round so had to buy 2 which cost me £12 , my boys were very disappointed when they only got 2 gos on the slide cause they only opened it for 15 mins , prob would go somewhere else next time .
I took my two grandchildren here today along with my daughter who i used to take there when she was little. I could see that building improvements are happening there but theres no excuse for the disgusting state of the place. The changing …
Took my kids to the Kingfisher swimming pool. Kids had a great time there, they had fun with the floats. Wonderful!!!
Couldn’t get booked in for swim.
Brilliant place to take kids swimming. Very shallow for a while before it gets deeper so perfect height for all ages. Just a shame they didnt keep the slides on long enough? When it states flumes from 12pm till 4pm on website on a saturday but opened at 1pm for half hour.
This was my first swim since March. I loved it and felt totally safe. The staff did everything to make me feel welcomed and safe. I highly recommend the use of the swimming pool.
Great friendly staff who supervise and monitor pool so there are no concerns about safety when taking children. nice flumes and a great wave machine with various other activites and classes not to mention a cafe to sit and watch all in all a great venue.
Visited here with my disabled daughter, because the pool is great for people with mobility issues and the staff really go the extra mile to accommodate people with additional needs. Currently refurbing changing rooms, so I’m sure it will get better here too.
Have been swimming at this centre since I was a kid. Now taking my kids. They loved it.
You have yo pay for parking
I’m a member of Abbycroft Leisure and attended an Aqua Aerobics class here this morning. It’s a lovely friendly atmosphere, friendly instructors and staff and I would definitely recommend this leisure centre and the Hadleigh leisure centre to others.
Friendly staff and nice and clean. Pool seemed to not be as warm as it did on previous occasions.
I really like the gym. The music is good. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are super helpful! You’ll find me here until the pubs open fully 😉 …
Have to create another account and add another bloody app to my phone to do anything there. Can’t just walk in for a swim any more.
Great pool, love the free swimming for the kids in the summer hols, changing rooms could be cleaner and the toilets aren’t that pleasant but the pool is great fun and is manned by life guards making you feel very safe even when it’s busy !
The place is so run down. The mens toilets were falling apart, were not clean, no soap in the dispenser, the swimming pool floor as you walk in had mould all over. The changing rooms are so small. The showers were disgusting rubber coming from the walls the water smelled funny. Would not go back
I have tried to bring my toddler for swimming a few times since Abbeycroft have taken over Kingfisher’s. I checked the timetable and website the night before, only to arrive and be confronted by a sign saying the pool was closed all weekend …
Came here with two friends one evening to relax and use the Sauna and Jacuzzi and it was so unclean. The changing rooms where filthy and I felt so dirty after having to get changed in them. And the sauna area wasn’t much better, tiles …
Really good experience.
Probably the best pool about.
Great for the kids
Really bad customer service, didn’t explain correctly when the pool shuts for lessons so we had to get out after 10 minutes of paying full price .wouldn’t recommend to anyone pool is very small and staff are quite rude .
Take my advice and avoid for children’s swimming lessons. No feedback to help children improve and progress. They give the same basic instructions each week and don’t even watch them swim to see if they have understood, spending more time …
Good price for swimming and pool is v nice when not too busy. Good for kids especially wave machine, flume etc but make sure they are in operation before you go. Small cafe for coffee etc.
Lovely pool that my kids love!!!! And now the changing rooms have been refurbed it’s my go to pool for a fun family swim!!!!
