Write a ReviewWent in for day surgery and I was so well looked after from going in to going home. All staff were caring, friendly and helpful. Anika was the name of the nurse who looked after me and she was very professional with a lovely nature, and explained everything to me with patience and understanding.

Attended Endoscopy Unit today and had gastrostomy and biopsy, all staff were professional and friendly. Although busy department I was constantly being reassured by nurses when receiving treatment. Thank you so much

Waited 4 hours in A&E, every check I had done they did twice, departments don’t seem to talk to each other and didn’t even get my blood results 🤷♀️ but then £8 for 4 hours parking???? What a joke!!! …
Took my granddaughter after she went over on her ankle and it immediately turned black and blue still not seen after 4 hours. There was a grand total of 2 other patients In the department. How long does it take to triage each patient?? 20 mins???. Left without being seen. Disgraceful, 6 years old
Attended A&E early hours of 17.07.2022 with a serious jaw infection/sepsis due to a botched wisdom tooth removal at the RVI. The night shift staff here were absolutely outstanding! I was seen very quickly and given IV morphine/antibiotics …

The A&E are top notch starting from the black British woman that welcome us as a family to wonderful Nurses and Doctor’s that observe my wife that was pregnant and she is having pains. Am proud of this hospital
2 stars for the lad and the doctor.. 1 star for hygiene…no stars for the IBD nurses, I’m taking this complaint right to the top after today after the way my sick partner was treated, you didn’t even have her down on system for the patency …
Arrived at A&E 9am with injured ankle and by 11am I’d seen a nurse, orthopedic doctor and been diagnosed with a ruptured achilles tendon. I had to return at 3pm for a CT scan to confirm this then have a boot fitted. By 4pm I was back home with follow up appointments. Thank you for the excellent service from start to finish.
I have been in this Hospital numerous times over the years mainly A and E and have nearly always found the staff very caring and professional. However I’ve been in a few times lately with what I would call concerning medical issues . …

Unfortunately our brother passed away but myself, my sister Denise & the rest of the family cannot thank the brilliant staff enough for the care & attention Paul received whilst in their care. Especially the drs & nurses who looked after …
My wife and I contacted STDGH following my wife suffering a burn. We asked? What’s the waiting time to be triaged? How long is the wait? We were informed they could not (would not share) this information. A code of silence? Whilst we …
Had Abdominal surgery 12th August where all went well and all the staff were very good however, nine days later I got an infection in the area. This is where treatment from the staff went from very good to outstanding . A big thank you to …
This hospital has gone down hill fast i was kept waiting hours with a burn with a burn blist i was on pain but still sat there waiting to be seen for over 4 hour
I wish I could say I’d had a positive experience with this hospital, unfortunately I’ve been witness to a level of incompetence and cruelty. That I have seen at this hospital on numerous occasions. …
Good but need to know local temperature please
I was seen at my appointment time, no waiting. Excellent and Professional Staff.
A&E receptionist very rude insisted I had covid from my symptoms as an asthma sufferer I have developed a chest infection because I my gp is fully booked til the 23rd July 111 made an appointment here was sent straight into a&e stats were …
South Tyneside Hospital where you’re always guaranteed a laugh, mainly at the level of care provided and the staff normally seem to be having a great time in the patient rooms whilst avoid their job like its COVID. I honestly respect …
On my arrival during the night feeling really frightened and unwell the receptionist was rude and unpleasant and spoke to me as if i was wasting time. I was admitted and spent 5 days on the surgical ward where all of the staff were kind …
I am so grateful to the kindness shown to me today. I visited A & E today. Staff simply the best.
This has got to be a contender for England’s worst hospital.
Emergencies turned away for not wearing a mask, without so much as a query as to why a mask cannot be worn. …
My mrs went here due to stomach issues saw a Dr orife and his attitude was appalling to say the least. The way he was talking to her was disgusting and was even shouting at her. He was lucky I wasn’t there for it. Didn’t examine her or anything. Appointment was a complete waste of time and left my mrs upset
I need a hip replacement and my GP asked which hospital I would prefer. I opted for South Tyneside after having absolutely first class treatment there 2 years ago having a keyhole operation for bowel cancer followed by chemotherapy.. …
Our experience of this ward was shocking. On the hospital’s website it sounds a nice place to go, the possibility of a family member bringing a well behaved pet in was no problem. The atmosphere is NOT like that at all. We got my mam out of there asap and we do hope other people will have other options too. A terrible ward.
My wife had to be admitted after a home visit by our GP.The ambulance crew arrived very promptly then calmly and considerately assessed the situation-they reassured both of us and somehow calmed me down (I was in a bit of a state) The …
Had a very positive experience when using A&E. Was assessed quickly and seen by a skilled nurse practitioner, xrayed and diagnosed in a relative short period of timed. Seen following morning in trauma clinic where the staff were lovely. …
Some of the staff really would be sacked anywhere else just the NHS does not do that and they know it. My mam has nurses come to home, they’ve put phone down on her talk to her so rude and today one said it costs 90 pound an hour to visit …
Have been waiting Two years for an operation on my ankle!!
Was cancelled the day before lockdown and I have had no contact from hospital …
As a Cancer sufferer and Heart problems under the care of this hospital, I have found that on the many, many visits for investigation, treatment and hospitalization etc. over a period of two to three years; …
The visitors appointment system, by bed, not patient, is very unhelpful and if it’s because of Covid prevention, why are masks not worn by visitors or staff?
Nurses on ward 6 absolutely brilliant. They are overworked & underpaid!! Main reception leaves a little to be desired!! Seems a little too much of an effort to be pleasant to callers. Appreciate they are busy taking calls all day long but hey!!…that’s’ the job. Otherwise, great staff doing a great job.
Ward 1 night staff arnt pleasant at all you be lucky if 2 of them speak nice its 1045pm and still have the lights on. The way the woman spoke today when serving dinners was disgusting. I will be putting a complaint in. Supposed to get …
Excellent glad they are hospital, like to wish all the staff a very Merry Xmas and all the best for the New Year, and thanks to all of you. I’d like to add to this, my husband has just arrived home after an angiogram,. It’s Jan …

Took my child for an xray today. I was thrown by an extremely bad mannered member of staff during xray. Sort dark hair. No eye contact. Asking my daughter if she can go in xray alone, she felt nervous so declined. No reassurance, very cold, …
My first experience of being an “in-patient” at this hospital and my last.

Probably one the worst hospitals in the country all they think about is whether you have payed your parking no care at all for patients don’t even ask you whether you want water tea or coffee they might as well close that hospital down and build something else absolutely shambolic
Was on ward 3 for 11 days with a blood infection all the staff are wonderful really cared for the patients the meals are really nice and the ward was very clean thank you so much to all the staff on ward 3 you are all a credit to the NHS

Well done for such amazing caring service in A & E for the quick response and aftercare for my daughter yesterday Rebecca Hancock whilst an asthma attack and chest infection. Amazing care from start to finish and great nursing.
This place should be closed down instead of feeding NHS staff with more perks than Alan Sugar. Hospitals are for patients not a social networking soap opera. If staff done there job properly the NHS wouldn’t be in as much trouble.
Took son waited 3 hours in a nearly empty waiting room only to be told what I’d already suspected. Sat till almost midnight. Children tired. Plus parking ticket machine out of order. If I get a fine I’ll be furious. 😕 …
I was born at this hospital and have used it my whole life. The staff are the best I’ve encountered and it’s a crying shame the Tories are gradually privatising the NHS while our local Labour clown-cil sit back and wait to close it down and sell the land to developers.
Visited the hospital this afternoon after taking the top of my finger off, all I can say is the staff were fabulous, they couldn’t have been nicer, unfortunately I can’t remember the nurses names that took care off me, Thank you to the full team your all doing an amazing job.
Horrible nurses on AaE, probably just pipped by the even more horrible receptionist.
If ever another petition comes round to save that joke of a hospital ill definitely not be signing it this time.
Disgusted having watched my 87 year old mother in great distress, gasping for breath for over 3 hours while staff dithered, incapable of making a decision about treatment. Eventually giving a sedative and antisickness injection, …
Very good. don’t know what we would do without it
My Husband was admitted with covid on the 27th March 2021, the care and compassion he received was amazing, he sadly passed on the 14th April in ITU, the Doctors and Nurses were so kind and caring to both My Husband and our family I can’t fault the care they gave was over and above they couldn’t have done more, once again Thank you ❤️
Had a first class experience at the hospital yesterday, all staff very friendly and professional thank you, keep up the good work 👏 …
If you have a query, don’t bother asking the staff on reception in the Ingham Wing.

Everybody that I know who goes to this hospital doesn’t come out.u catch more germs from there than any other hospital.the staff don’t seem to be bothered.i would rather travel to Sunderland or newcastle.i hate putting negative comments. But I feel better in myself for messaging it.sooner the place gets closed down the better
Don’t bother calling a&e at night. Needed to speak to my dads nurses for an emergency and the receptionist tries to argue telling me “that ward is asleep now” it’s an emergency don’t need rude cheeky staff.
It’s not good when you’re sitting in A&E with a waiting room full and there’s a mixture of 7 Dr’s and nurses behind the desk chatting and laughing. They should move away for there break and look more professional

Cannot praise and thank all of the staff on ward 22 for the endless care they have given to my daughter Frances once again through her awful pregnancys but we made it again with all the dedication of a wonderful team and we will be forever grateful to each and everyone of them xx
5 hours to check a head injury, staff lied about calling our name, completely unprofessional and a shame.
Absolutely brilliant doctor’s nurse’s, porter’s and reception, thank you all, you deserve medals.
On sunday the 16th october i was told by 111 staff to go to A&E and to let them know i had to be seen within the hour but on arrival to A&E i actually couldnt breathe so they took me atraight through to the other side and put ke on a bed …
