Can I call a patient's room?
1) most patients are in bays of 4 or 6 beds and not in individual rooms.
2) most patients will not have a landline phone that can be dialled into.
3) Switchboard would not have access to which patient is in which bed.
Most of the time people still have a mobile phone with them but otherwise the wards will usually have a cordless phone they can take to the bedside.
