Write a ReviewOur local UTC for Newton Abbot, a minor injuries unit situated on Jetty Marsh Road.
Have had scans, tests and treatment here over the years, always had a freindly …
We are very lucky to have such caring and efficient professionals staffing this clean and bright unit. Thank you to everyone from the volunteer in reception, the receptionist in the Minor Injuries Unit, the triage staff, the radiologist and …
In and out in under an hour. Absolutely fantastic and professional service. Thanks to all the amazing staff that helped me during my hour of need.
Was seen near the closing time and the doctor/nurse I saw was so rude. I noticed him being ride with others too. I had a piece of stone in my eye and he was rough getting it out. He was flicking the piece out with a needle in a reckless …
A big thank you to all of the staff in the minor injuries unit. From first entering the hospital on Sunday 3rd April am, the staff were friendly and helpful, making myself, a nervous patient, feel relaxed. The service I received was …
We are on holiday in Devon and our 4-year old fractured her elbow so we attended a&e. Upon arriving, it was clear that this was a modern, light hospital with easy signage and the reception team were very friendly. My daughter was sick at …
First interaction with Newton Abbot Community Hospital.
Building very modern and relaxing, reception staff very welcoming and helpful and guided my wife to a treatment access area. …
Went to A and E on Monday 11th July 2022 with my teenager. The blonde lady he saw there was amazing and put my very nervous and anxious son at ease straightaway, explaining everything thoroughly. So kind and understanding. Sorry I’m not allowed to name her on here – but she really is a credit to your department. Thank you so much.
Have been taking my son here out of hours in the last few years, whenever he’s been unwell. The staff had always been incredibly friendly with him. The hospital always seems very clean too. Thank you ever so much for the outstanding service tonight and whenever we needed you in the past.
Superb staff, facilities, hygiene and treatment. We have always had excellent care here, when needed. However, the accoustics in the main reception and clinic waiting area are very echoey and make it very difficult to hear when your name is called.
Our best Torbay local hospital.
A fantastic, efficient, professional service from arrival to departure. The staff made me feel welcomed…the receptionist, initial consultation and the x-ray department. So grateful for the MIU department instead of troubling A&E at …
I suffered a knee injury and my doctor asked me to go here. What a lovely clean place, bright and airy.
All the staff were friendly and informative and I felt unhurried, like they had time for me. Parking was easy as well.
My 81 year dad had to have a tooth extracted this week (he has Parkinsons and onset dementia) from start to finish the specalist and 2 nurse’s at the Maxillo facial clinic were amazing, they were extremely patient, explaining everything …
Got here upon opening at 8am only to be met by a que as no one was in on reception (apparently no one knew who was meant to be in that day….) for those of us who queued before the receptionist eventually arrived, it appears there was no …
Well run super clean, very caring staff and nurses. Not enough parking for the volume of patients. I am a blue badge holder and had to park a fair way down the road from the car park and walk to the hospital. More disabled spaces needed.
We were so grateful to the staff at MIU Centre, only had to wait just over 1 hour, which in the present climate conditions was brilliant. The staff are fantastic and must be under so much strain due to the continuing influx of injured and …
I am a support a young man with learning disabilities, last night we had to take a second trip.
On both occasions we were treated well. The waiting times were approximately 30 …
I had my baby here, lovely clean quiet environment, and I was allowed back home to my own bed that night, no fuss! My family has also been here for minor injuries and eye tests, out of hours doctors. I would say we are very lucky to have this facility locally.
Easy parking and wide access doors. All visitors must currently wear a face mask and sanitise their hands at station inside second set of doors. If going to other clinics within, visitors must wash, dry and sanitise their hands again unless going to A & A Dept which NOT 24 hours.
Had an appointment for an x-ray today. Staff at reception lovely and was seen slightly earlier than expected. Radioagrapher professional, courteous and took time to chat. A brilliant hospital. Shame about excessive parking charges though.
Took my 95 year old partner in after she had a bad fall and she was seen within a minute even though the hospital was busy. Only had to wait about 25 minutes for an xray. …
I was surprised to see this hospital has not got a maximum star review!! What are we expecting from the hard working staff. they are ALWAYS both polite, friendly and very professional. if I have to be sick, then this is the hospital for me.
Had a fractured foot and had to do a follow up. Staff were lovely and we didn’t wait long for an X-ray. However the new plaster cast I received wasn’t fitted properly and was done poorly so it slipped down my leg. I had to go to Torbay Hospital and get re-casted the next day.
Haven’t even been there yet and they are absolutely horrifically rude on the phone. Talking over you and no conscious effort to put you at ease about going somewhere you’ve never been before, no knowledge of how to get there by bus just a …
Just returned with my FREE hearing aids from the Newton Abbot hospital audiology department! First rate treatment throughout –
from initial consultation to the final fitting and fine tuning , all done in a …
We visited Newton Abbot Community Hospital as my wife had ruptured her Achilles tendon. The two nurse practioners who dealt with her were professional, friendly and took time to talk to her. The whole process which include an examation, x …

Tairu has been moved from torbay to newton abbot hospital. On entry was pleased to see a thermal scanner for temperature taking. Although great idea would be more useful if accurate. The elderly gentleman in front of me his temp showed 32 …
I cut my arm, quite a nasty laceration and the lady/nurse was excellent. She made it a pleasant experience. Many thanks i appreciate the care. Ian.
This is not a reflection on the hospital, but found parking to be particularly difficult and resulted in a missed appointment as couldn’t get a parking spot. Saw the comments about paying to park and had the right change and all that, but hadn’t anticipated it being quite so busy. 🤔 …
Came here for a deep tissue wound. Very clean, modern hospital. I was attended to very quickly and staff were very friendly while they stitched me up. Thanks for the great care !
My wife’s mother ( Margaret Brewin) was admitted to Newton Abbot hospital and sadly passed away whilst there. The family would like to thank the staff at the hospital especially Teign Ward for their care which was truly excellent and their …
Still waiting 9 weeks later for results on a 24 hr heart monitor result. Tried calling numerous times but just an answer phone for relevant department.
I agree with a previous post from my experience. It’s hard to find out what’s going on as it’s always someone else’s responsibility. When you have a family member struggling with their condition you need support from people in the know and …
Dreadful…. the lack of communication and their lack of ability to actually listen to the patient or their POA is mind blowing… the hours wasted because of, for instance, 3 different staff/dept giving 3 different discharge dates in one …
Thank goodness for our NHS. My husband and I had first class treatment tonight the staff are just wonderful in the MIU. Huge thanks.
My granddaughter has first rate treatment in your eye clinic, it’s a shame you don’t treat glaucoma as I was diagnosed with high pressure in my eye in December at the opticians and am still waiting for my first appointment at Torbay hospital
Attended today with my son following a rugby injury. Absolutely amazing care, triaged, x-rayed and diagnosis all in an hour!! Thank you Pete!
Cheerful, friendly staff. Extremely prompt service! My new place to go for minor injuries. 🤠 …
Makes Torbay look like some victorian hell hole oh no its just a hell hole populated by over stretched nurses doing their best, doctors who hate people and management who don’t care if you live. Newton Abbot is efficient clean and staff are amazing thanks
Excellent staff and care ,we are so lucky to have this NHS service locally. Thank you to all of you.
Fantastic hospital been here for 9 weeks now and received the best care possible I will be for a bit longer but I don’t mind as I am treated like a princess by all the staff
Patronised, avoided offering support or any medication, the practitioner nurseanurse wrote my details down on a paper napkin …
First class treatment staff can’t do enough to help
Exceptional service. Kind staff, from Reception to Consultant. Lovely atmosphere, clean and safe.
Many thanks to Suzie for attending to my detached finger nail this morning in the MIU . First class service and thanks to the lady doctor for her kindness .
Brilliant staff with modern first class facilities. Shame parking is not free as this hospital is right out of the town so unlikely to be abused
‘A Google User’ wrote their review pre-2010 and it is no longer appropriate.
Newton Abbot Community Hospital details are now correct and in it’s new building supplies an exellent service.
Thank you for your care today. Very professional staff. Useful advice. Reassuring. Pain relief recommended is helping to reduce the pain.
Absolutely useless and incompetent only take people you really don’t like that so they can finish them off
Saw triage nurse quite soon and then waited about half an hour for treatment.
Staff were polite and helpful.
Very efficient and professional response to infected cut, despite the pressures of the pandemic. All sorted within 30 minutes. Thank you Jennie and Lee.
Went there today with an injured foot and had to leave because the parking meters didn’t take cards and I didn’t have any change
It is 2019!! I’m sure I’m not the only person that has had this
This is no reflection on the staff or the hospital
