Write a ReviewLet me start by saying that I would have given no star, but for the helpful receptionist. Date of visit 16th February 2022. The Streaming nurse Cheryl and the ogre (not sure of her name, but her badge string had Mariam), both lacked the …
I have just returned home from Watford General following being admitted by ambulance following a collapse at home. At all stages of the process from arriving to treatment and discharge the staff were absolutely wonderful. I was kept …
Visited today with elderly mother the staff are professional and hard-working. The accident and emergency service was extremely efficient the staff are a credit to the NHS. Thank you so much for your care and compassion. The staff are working under extreme pressures yet still manage to be polite kind and caring
Fantastic experience from start to finish today. From the reception staff, to the nurses and the consultant, every single interaction was professional, competent and also warm and personal. Never been more reassured that I’m in safe hands. So grateful for our NHS!
Took my wife to emergency services at 4 am and now its 9:30 am and we still waiting a doctor to visit and diagnose my wife, awful hospital awful health care. Just keep offering pain killers every 2 hours nothing else. …
This is about the Maternity Ward Staff.
Absolutely Amazing. I was admitted to hospital 39 weeks pregnant. I came in for …
It’s currently 4am. I’ve been waiting in accident & ‘emergency’ (A&E) for around 4 hours. …
I have been admitted to Watford hospital via NHS 999 as I was 37 weeks pregnant and had Covid positive. I had breathing difficulties. Since the day I admitted I have been treated by A&E unit, Maternity triage, Victoria ward and Delivery …
Went to the blood clinic and I have to say they are fabulous…
I had lovely Mary and she looked after me well. 😁
Please think twice before you huff and puff at the staff. …
I’ll start with the obvious negative, which is that I stayed in A&E for over 11 hours, which was far from ideal as I was sick, unwell, and uncomfortable for such an amount of time. In the future, I would probably avoid A&E unless I’m on the …
I was rushed to Watford hospital with certain issues. My time in AnE was not at all good. The doctors and nurses were rude, they would not listen and liked to jump to conclusions of what was actually going on with me. However once out of …
Our daughter broke her wrist – all care has been speedy, polite and really high quality. Everything explained, lots of calm and experienced staff to guide and care for us. We are so thankful for such efficient and excellent service.
Huge and well deserved shout out to the fabulous staff in the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). Genuinely could not have been cared for and communicated with better following an acute medical incident. Special thanks to Marcia, Francis, Frances, Boaz and Aretha. Glowing example of how to do it right. Thank you – keep up the great work.
Why oh why do staff have to pay to park in the hospital even those that work both Hospital and community and when they are on holiday. If they receive a rise they pay more parking and obviously their tax goes up! Letting them park free is …
I should like to express my thanks to all at this hospital, especially the A&E service and the staff of Cleves ward after my stay here after ambulance delivery Wednesday 11th. Jan at 11pm to the Friday. I was received and treated throughout …
Some good, a majority bad. Registrars were not helpful and went missing. One registrar came down to see my wife after us waiting a day, they took one look at my wife and said to midwife you have the same size fingers as me, then walked off. …
Visited Watford General Hospital A&E this morning and was triaged and subsequently X-rayed and discharged very promptly, in and out in under 1:30 hours. All the staff I encountered were really kind and friendly, thank you NHS
Absolutely fantastic, I can’t believe the pressure that you’re under the hours that you work. You have a wonderful leadership team. What you doing is tough but my goodness we’ve got your back. 👍🙂 …
I gave birth here 5 days ago and I wanna thank the whole team that took care of me and dealt with me that day, every single one of them was absolutely amazing, compassionate and kind!!! We had many laughs together, the experience was great and made the pain and discomfort more manageable. A huge thank you!!
Utterly disgusted.
Navigating this hospital is a nightmare, you’d die trying. Overly priced car park, toilets that don’t work, coffee machine that doesn’t work and road blocks to …
Over a couple of years, have been to a&e, x-ray, macrofacial, antenatal care and not found it hard to get support. Waiting times for these services were manageable. Sometimes it’s more than I thought and sometimes less. Have even been able …
I was entered via a 999 call. Despite the building being old and shabby with temperamental equipment I’m amazed by the staff doing as well as they do. One even lent me her personal phone charger and checked on me regularly. Plenty of …
Attended A&E this afternoon with a friend who went in for a medical emergency (as most A&E visits are). She was triaged within a few minutes by the A&E nurse, taken through to resus and reviewed by two different doctors. Within about 2.5 …
I just wanted to leave a good review due to how lovely everyone has been. It’s never nice being in hospital and frustrating waiting and not get answers but it’s not so bad when the people are kind and accommodating.
Dana in AEU has been extremely lovely.
I was left for 17 hours waiting to see a Dr. A complaint was made and dealt with accordingly. Today my partner has been in since 10am, and has been left without knowing if she will be going for surgery. A lack of empathy from staff, but hey, keep banging them pots for our marvellous NHS….
A nightmare experience trying to find out how my 97 year old aunt is faring. I’m blocked at every turn. Most of the nurses I speak to sound like automata “you are not next of kin.” Another family member has named herself as next of kin and …
Absolutely useless! I’m the only patient in the waiting room at the ophthalmology department. I’ve been here an hour and still haven’t been seen even though I have an appointment. There are “plenty” of staff walking around at a snail’s pace doing absolutely nothing!
The security guys dealing with the traffic were so helpful when I had to drop off and collect something at the hospital today
well done ! …
I was admitted in Watford General Hospital on 17th of August and on November last year. I might say I had an excellence care and service.
A Big Thank You to Dr Haji-Coll and Dr Bhandari with there professional …
Dealt with exceptionally fast. Knowledgeable staff made my ( brief), visit a pleasure. I’ll definitely come here again.
My elderly mother has had quite a few admissions to Watford General over the years, the most recent being after a fall which broke her hip. Both she and I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for the kindness and skill of all the staff …
This review is regarding the problems with the parking and boards informing about the changes. Don’t expect to find the parking following the signs, they are useless when you find them. For parking go through Tom Sawyer Way.
We spent 10 hours in A&E on the 28th of December someone having a mental health episode. The staff were brilliant. Kind, caring and professionals. Special thanks to Karen.
Maternity building
Premesis is very run down and outdated. Toilets are half the time not working or …
I had an appointment at Watford General Hospital on the 7th October.I was there at 5.50am for appointment at 9.30.am
I sat on a chair near WHSmith in the hospital. …
I have had my first baby on April 2021 and august 2022 the second.
I have no words to explain how well I was looked after, I am amazed from the help I got from the midwifes at all times. They were so patient with me and …
Every visit by myself, family, friends, the residents I care for have been terrible. The place is understaffed and most of the people on dutie don’t know what’s going on themselves. Prepare for an extremely long wait to find out they forgot you were still there
You currently can’t access the multi-storey car park via the main entrance, and are told by staff and also big signs saying to follow the diversion signs.. there is only 2 signs which both point you back to the main entrance ?? Have spoke to a few people on the phone who couldn’t care less about it
We went there yesterday as I started bleeding profusely and I am 14+3 weeks pregnant. We were there for 5 hours without being seen by any doctor. The hospital is shortstaffed and most of the staffs who handled us lacks empathy. You can …
1 watford a n e gp lives ina 4 million pound radlett house ..now tell me u need a raise ..No doctor deserves a pay rise u r rich enough and lazy as hell ..try getting to work on time and doing a days work without sitting on facebook or …
Amazing staff but let down by the poor maintenance and old buildings. This hospital is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Lifts are always out of order and most wards have such old floors that they have massive gaps in them as the tiles have shrunk so impossible to properly clean.
This is So far the worst experience you Could ever have going to a hospital where you expect to be looked after, I’m working in social care for many years now But respect and Dignity Is one of the most important thing I know I must provide …
Waited 5 hours for a simple blood test. Caring staff and waiting times are understandable due to national NHS strikes, but I’d recommend you bring a book, a phone and a charger if you’re going
Thank you once again Watford General Accident and Emergency department! Yes of course a very long wait but we’re always kept up to date. The staff were all great, polite, extremely skilled and knowledgeable. All very well and clearly …
Might be a bit run down outside but the staff are generally friendly and helpful. …
Our daughter was born at Watford this week. We were a little anxious as we had heard there were some midwife shortages and the birthing centre was closed. However, our experience was superb, all of the staff, nurses and midwives were …
The hospital is a little run down, but my word that is not a reflection of the staff, they were truly amazing and I cannot thank them enough for their care, time and support in looking after me from the moment I arrived to leaving. Thank you so much, you are all superstars
Awful experience! After 7h and 30 minutes of waiting in A&E I just found out that they have closed at 2 am and that I have been transferred to a different department and I will have to wait in the queue again.I’m exhausted and in pain and …
Waiting for 8 hours in A&E, not even being seen by a doctor yet, Ridiculous. Funny enough, the receptionists says this is normal here.
If there is even a little dignity left in the head of the hospital he/she needs …
Went to Ambulatory care a couple of weeks ago for blood transfusions and I was very nervous but nurses were very kind and caring and I want to say a very big thank you to you all. By the end of the day I was relaxed due to your kindness and …
Fantastic service and brilliant staff. The NHS is brutality understaffed and under paid yet was treated with respect. If you’re in a rush expect to wait x amount of time and then some but be nice and you’ll get sorted out.
The thought of attending Watford General hospital fills all my family with dread. So much so my mum, who has cancer, doesn’t want to visit me from Norfolk. A/E is terrible: rude staff, horrendous waiting times, poor care. For example, my …
Best Hospital that has ever cared for my mama! Amazing A&E and the happiest wonderful doctors and nurses! Love love x

Shocking lack of care! Never going back there! I understand they are stressed but ignoring patients when they clearly needed assitanyence The only word I’d use for my whole experience is TRAUMATIC!!!
I wish to express my sincere thanks to both the A&E and Letchmore Ward nursing team at Watford General Hospital, all of whom attended to me; showed good patient care after I suffered a punctured lung and fractured ribs due to a biking …

Want to make a shout out for the NHS and especially for Watford General Hospital. had to go there recently with a cut thumb. I was Triaged Within five minutes, and then went to see a nurse practitioner about 10 minutes after that. had …
I waited no time, because of my pain I couldn’t sit down so a nurse asked me if I would feel more comfortable in the bed. The staff treated me well. Probably the best Hospital in Watford.
Booking into ED was quick and easy.
There was however quite a long wait for the streaming nurse with a poorly 4 year old. After about 40 mins, we were seen by lovely senior nurse Cheryl, and …
Absolutely shocking. Arrived at 7pm with my 10 month old daughter, left her without fluids until 11:30pm while she screamed the whole time, just moved me to different areas of the hospital as the nurses couldn’t cope with her screaming. …
Terrible – it’s getting worse and worse. Very sad to see .. yesterday at 10pm 09/06/22 we went to the childrens (paediatrics) a&e with my son who was advised by the Ambulance driver to go there and be treated urgently with steroid …
I’ve been waiting 3 days for a neurologist to talk to me to give me my results and discharge me. 2 other neurologist however said I was fine and are not concerned, so why am I still here? One of the doctors is rude as well. So confused how …
Had my baby there in 2022, every staff member during my stay (5 days) was amazing.
Today I was unfortunately to the hospital do to a face swelling that it ended to be a sinusitis. All staff was fantastic, understanding and professional. Was in a great amount of pain, now after a few hours, swelling is shrinking and pains …
This is a serious pledge to the NHS Health minister. We called for an ambulance in Watford for a patient that had a serious sports injury, was struggling to breathe, and a cricket ball hit his mouth where both his teeth got displaced and he …
It’s a lunatic asylum. I had fall st home and was sent to a dementia ward. People are screaming all night. Two nurses were attacked. There was dead person in bed next to me left for hours No one would tell you except one nurse was crying so …

I attended WGH yesterday to have an intravenous infusion of anti bodies after testing positive for Covid. I cannot praise this hospital enough. From the phone call on Sunday through to the procedure on Monday everything was handled speedily …
Tina, the streaming nurse in UTC, needs to learn some politeness and manners, I get that she’s busy, everyone in the NHS is, nobody else was so rude. Made me and my elderly mother feel like we were there just to p*** her off! Not just rude to us but to every patient. Sarcasm isn’t a good fit for a nurse!
I want to thank and express my deepest respect to all the staff of the Maternity unit, especially the midwives. They supported and helped us throughout the birth process, helped and taught us how to handle a child, taught us how to feed our baby. I can’t express in words how much I appreciate you, thank you very much. Thank you NHS!!!
