Write a ReviewFantastic staff, incredible surgeons, A&E is clean and tidy, standard wait times no fault of the Trusts. …
Get some signs. For crying out loud get some signs. It’s like trying to find a secret in a bad first person shooter. Also. Maybe make sure that the department or ward or whatever is called the same thing in the letter they send you as on …
I working here for 5 years. Love my job. We are working very hard, taking a lot in. We are doing our best for our patients.
( especially when we are well guarded😊) …
Exemplary!! Excellent treatment from the ambulance service on admission, all staff throughout and to discharge. So kind, caring, truly professional, yet so friendly. Seemed a really good, happy team that worked well together. So good I …
The staff are amazing and doing their very best. However, they are badly let down by the hospital itself. Where to begin? The layout is unnavigable. Atrocious signage and access. My advice would not be to drive there because the car park is …
Staff are amazing!! and I really felt for them and what they have to deal with.
The hospital itself is a ****hole, A&E is not fit for purpose, the whole place felt tatty and grubby, carpark lift full of discarded masks (disgusting people) …
Renal department, transplant unit
Excellent service they provide, constant care, doctors and nurses are so kind, helpful and understanding. If you have a medical problem you ring or email and …
I was admitted with a stroke to Baily ward and received amazing care last week.
Thank you to Roxana from Romania and her team of nurses May (possibly Mai) and …
Five stars for Esme, Jean and all the staff of the X-ray Department. I went for MRI on Saturday evening with a lot of stress and anxiety, coz I don’t really like to be in small closed places. But Esme with her positive energy from the first …
After having brain tumour removed, my mum was put in an all male ward. 48 hrs later she called me in tears saying the occupational therapists had said she would be discharged in the morning. She lives alone and had no idea what was …
My elderly mum has been admitted a number of times over the last year. She went in again last night. Time before she went in, I received a call from A&E doctor to state after a scan she had quite advanced cancer. It took 2 days of my mum …
My great aunt 93 was taken to A&E in the wee small hours on a Monday. Luckily, it was not busy and the consultant and nurses rallied round en mass and took very great care of her. The only concern was we had to wait over four hours for the ambulance. Had her condition been any more serious, it may have ended differently 🙏 …
Fantastic care received for my grandfather, he was treated with the utmost dignity and compassion. Very grateful to the nurses and doctors, Heath care assistance, cleaners, porters and kitchen staff, who all work tirelessly and often thanklessly! Thank you you are all amazing x
*Firstly my views are not about staff or treatment.
I took my daughter to the Orthodontist at the Alex, for an emergency dental …
Clinical care is good. The environment is poor. The car park is poorly maintained, in virtual darkness even in daytime, with pay machines that are broken more often than not. Signposting around the site is so bad that you’ll get your 10,000 steps in searching for where you want!
Today I had to go into RSCH level 9hospital for a not very nice procedure that I have to have every five years This is not about me but more about the NHS
Firstly they called me to let me know it was due… I had no idea, …
It was back in 2002 that I spent time in this wonderful place having a heart by-pass. The Sureon was Mr Forsythe from Australia and ‘my’ nurse was a young lady from New Zealand. Her name was Ceri and I often think of these amazing people .
Absolutely useless got made an appointment to see a gp here for asthma but on arrival a rude receptionist said it doesn’t work like that. Was triaged and asked to wait in an overcrowded waiting room. So walked out and paid for a private gp appointment
The old lady in the reception of A&E was a racist. Compared to other white patients, she asked me extra racist questions including whether I live here in Brighton, whether I permanently live in the UK and how long I have been in the UK. …
These 5 stars go out to PAM who works on appointments line and is going the xtra mile for me . The lady works today and than Tuesday again. Without her I would have been waiting forever. So to all other lovely staff it’s worth going the …
This hospital slowly but surely let my mum die, it could have been prevented but I will never trust this place and their staff again. I want people to know that the medical professionals (as they call themselves) are most definitely never always right.
Taking a turn for the worst on Xmas day with face swelling and headpain family took me to A &E at 6.30pm. Reception was efficient and hardly had time to sit down before being called for triage. Seen by Shiobham who was extremely pleasant …
Reception hasn’t worn masks the last two times I’ve been at Sussex House ANC. Each time eating, coughing etc. The first time I arrived they made me switch from my reusable washable mask to a hospital one so the second time I didn’t bring …
I can’t thank A&E as a unit and each and everyone of the staff that helped me. I slipped on wet leaves late on NYE and they went above and beyond looking after me in the madness that was probably one of their busiest nights and day. Thank …
I was admitted to the hospital on 30 January following a stroke at Haywards Heath station. I have to say the medical staff were first class and looked after me very well. Thank god I have no lasting injuries and have fully recovered. I seemed to be in the right place at the right time and thank god for that.
Still waiting to talk to a nurse about my very sick father but nobody wants to answer the phone, still waiting after 45 minutes. Appalling. Do I need to travel down from Lincolnshire tonight? How’s sick is he? Just want information! Not good enough. Will be making a formal complaint.
The RSCH isn’t the best looking hospital as parts of it are really old and pretty much falling apart. But as someone who has grown up in sussex the RSCH has been a huge part of my life – they saved my dad’s life a few years ago and they …
I am in the county at the moment and I can’t fault the care and professional way the staff are helping me with my illness. thankyou to all the staff on bailey ward.
How long have we got? Nightmare of a place and as an ex Nurse I have nothing positive to recommend it. The entire A and E department are shocking and I have lost count of how many times I have raised serious issues regarding it, to the Patient Experience department.
My own experience has been amazing. Both Anna and Nicola (plastics clinical nurse specialists) were so professional and caring. They gave me confidence and complete peace of mind regarding my injury and ongoing recovery. I feel very grateful – thank you NHS ❤️
just been with my wife yesterday at 11 am , severe back pain, painful arms and numbness, she couldn’t move her fingers at all. been waiting around 7 hours to see a doctor and then took her for an MRI scan which result came on after 8 more …
If I could put 6 stars I would do. All the staff treated me so professionally and kindly. I was so scared and they all did their very best to deliver the best care for a patient.
Thank you so much!
HCA’s on Bay 4, Lewes Ward, ‘actively’ obstructed the usage of the Call Button system from the patients. They ‘claimed’ these were not necessary because ‘they’ covered the ward themselves. But this was not the case for my father’s care 2 …
My wife suffered a seizure whilst we were on holiday just outside Brighton.
Although the hospital has some structural issues the care she received was absolutely superb. I took her into A and E and by the time I had parked my car she …
Thank you 🙏 to all the staff, I spent 5 days in hospital and cannot fault anyone. The nurses were absolutely amazing even when they work twelve and a half hour shifts 😱. Everyone complains about the food but I was quite surprised at the …
My elderly father was send in via GP, seen within half an hour, transferred to a bed and seen by a ENT doctor Jessica kamel can’t fault, in and discharged with all information, medication and a plan for moving forwards within 6 hours!
Went to the hospital after a referral from PRH got seen by Ent DrJohnathan and Ayesha who were great but it was Dr Dodds that manage to get a fish bone stuck in my neck for 4 weeks. …
Atrocious. My appointment has been cancelled three times due to doctor’s strike. Disgraceful.
It’s an unexpectedly amazing experience. We arrived here around 1.00 in the afternoon and thought we had to wait for a long long time to see the doctor but only after 40 mins of waiting he saw the doctor and even got the blood test. The …
Unfortunately late Christmas Eve I was admitted to the Royal Sussex the ambulance men Ben and Alex were brilliant did everything to assist me and when I got there it was hectic and so busy and I had belly ache all I could think about was …
Awful service. Zero stars. Lois southon ultrasound receptionist and staff members are just rude and disgusting provocateurs. You all will get what you deserve. I curse you.
I have been to A&E before and my experience was always been great with them. Now, I do understand the NHS staff is under a lot of pressure and not paid enough, but waiting 8 hours for the CT scan results (bear in mind just the results) was …
Absolutely exceptional care and diagnosis skills in the A & E department. Yes, you have to wait and that hasn’t changed much in 30 years. If you are very ill you will be seen straight away, if less so, then it can be a while . Most of the …
I cannot stress just HOW fantastic the staff in A&E and the Trauma Ward were- when my 97 year old father was admitted. Their wonderful care and excellent communication skills were exemplary. In an emergency the NHS are the best in the world. My thanks for saving my father’s life.
Been in patient since may 12th I’m treated like royalty. Love the staff, so attentive and caring
I went as a visitor to the Millennium Wing, cardiac unit after my dad had emergency bypass surgery and then a stroke. I had to go alone due to covid rules and was really stressed. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. But there are …
I had to go in early Saturday morning and was surprised as they were busy but I got triaged really quickly and treated well. Maybe the wrong way to put it but very happy with the treatment I received but couldn’t wait to go home next day
Wonderful hospital, I’m very fortunate to live in Brighton and use it whenever I have an appointment or need emergency help. I had my 2 children here by C-section. The maternity ward is very good, the staff are brilliant and good with transgender patients
I had day surgery including inserting a couple of stents at the Sussex Cardiac Centre. …
Brilliant staff which couldn’t do enough to help me. So grateful to you all
Not fit for purpose and waiting times a joke regardless of what department you’re waiting in. Cant blame the people they’re stretched to their limits after years of austerity and underfunding
I spent 6 hours at A&E yesterday and received excellent care. I had an X-ray, ECG and blood tests together with a comprehensive consultation with two doctors. It was extremely busy but visitors waited patiently and staff worked steadily to see everyone. Well done!
I spent 5 hours in A&E waiting to see a specialist doctor. It was understaffed but the staff who were working were doing an absolutely brilliant job with what they could do. It is not their fault the NHS is understaffed and underfunded. …
On several occasions I have had to visit the SDEC department in the last year due to problems relating to my feeding tube.
On all. Occasions I have been given the best care and attention possible. I was …
Lovely young chap called Josh, strapping young man in grey in the acute assessment unit was amazing. Would come back just for him
I’m not sure where to leave this review but I just spoke to the most helpful man on the planet. I needed to check an MRI appointment at the Royal Sussex. He was patient considerate so kind and so nice. Had such a busy time nothing was too …
9 hour wait and not even on a busy night.
A&E doesn’t seem to be properly staffed in the evenings so you are left to wait the whole night until the morning shift starts.
This hospital’s First Aid is the WORST experience! I am a 24 years old female and my life meant nothing to those people. After a car crash an ambulance got me to the hospital, my face was bleeding and I needed an immediate flushing and …
I will start with the Negative. And that is the signage and directions need to be sorted and modernised. Very poor designs and inaccurate. My partner was in distress during Labour and we had to go in amd out of the lifts several times. …
After 12 harrowing hours in A&E I received a text from the hospital asking me to rate my experience. I put ‘Good’. It wasn’t of course but such was the kindness of two members of staff – Josie an HCA and Lucy a nurse – that my memories are …
My family and I have received excellent care from various hospital departments over the years, staff somehow managing to keep the services running despite years of Conservative Party underfunding, having to risk their lives working during …
Long wait, but the medical staff were extremely kind and helpful, even though they must be under a lot of stress
Went to a + e this morning for urgent care needed on my lower back that went into spasm causing severe pains and discomfort leaving me very close to been unable to walk. Got there to book in.I was very abruptly told at the desk to a …
I genuinely hope nobody has to end up at this hospital with serious injuries, the most incompetent and rude staff I have ever encountered and the doctors give false information. After having a severe injury and being told an ambulance would …
Worst telephone service I’ve ever experienced. Sending me through 6 different people just to not get an answer from the 7th
10th nov 2022… Arrived at A&E at 23.30 quick check in, seen the triage nurse. Then waited for 12 hours to be seen. Reception staff where not very clear on admission how long the waiting time would be. It wasn’t until 2am we where told it …
useless. partner with kidney disease had to get bloods done, these bloods were then lost and we called 5 times and emailed 3 times to rebook bloods and we were left on hold for over an hour. …
Once again have to say ‘Thankyou’ to all the hard working staff today. Got me through A&E far quicker than I expected, I know they are so busy with all kinds of human beings and our ailments, it’s a tough job and they have to put up with loads so I can only sing their praises. Just got to be patient and expect a possible wait.
I went there last night with severe pain in my ear and side of head, waited for 4 hours only to be told I’d have to wait another 4 hours to be seen! Staff are friendly and trying their best but the A&E is incredibly short staffed and letting people down. It really is at ita worse ever.
i hope now one end up here.
arrived at the hospital around 3ish Am
there was dew other people in the queue so i thought after those people is my …
Well what can I say, I was in trouble and they sorted me out and arranged backup treatment for me.

Very good treatment, doctors, nurses are very helpful, very friendly.
Very proud of Sussex County hospital
Recently had to go to A & E as had unusual chest pain. I was able to walk in and was not presenting any symptoms. The A & E Doctor was extremely thorough and would not let me leave until every check had been done as the initial standard …
What a wonderful team of people – I can’t thank you enough. Arrived Sunday into Orthopaedics West 11 …. cannot fault the professional care and dedication that I received from Ambulance staff, Care Workers, Theatre Staff, Trolley Staff, …
Considering how busy it gets here, the staff are helpful and try to get you seen as soon as is possible its clean and tidy, and there are coffee shops or stations dotted around parking in the multi storey is a mission but its not to expensive
Terrible parking problems at hospital as car par full, and long delays in appointments, I was picking someone up post operative. This is just something that happens, it’s not anyone’s fault. A man was on traffic duty explaining this at the …
Just got home from having surgery on broken foot. Despite current challenges, the people were tremendous. It was obvious that the staff care and are passionate about what they do, how they treat people and getting the best outcome …
