Write a ReviewWent to BEH about 2 weeks ago for emergency to have foreign object removed from my right eye. Service was fantastic, super professional, efficient, effective and, thankfully, entirely painless. Can’t praise all staff involved highly enough. Thank you.
I has surgery as a child here in the 1970s. I was born with congenital cataracts in both eyes and was then under the care of a professor Jardine. To whom I will always be in his debt for the care he gave me. I’m led to believe Professor …
Was an urgent patient today. Service was brilliant. Was triaged then seen by Tim Macklin, a nurse practitioner, and then Rhys. an ophthalmologist (hope I remembered the names correctly!!). They couldn’t have been kinder, more caring or helpful – despite being several colleagues down. Thank you so much

Amazing service in Eye Hospital a&e today. Speedy, friendly and extremely thorough. Nurse Practitioner Jane, orthoptist Melanie and a female doctor whose name I don’t remember we’re all amazing, as were the various staff who conducted tests and the reception staff. Super impressive, thank you.
You couldn’t ask for more professionalism, outstandingly good care. Thank you so much.
I went to A&E with an urgent eye problem.
I was treated by lovely nurses, doctors and other staff who were all polite, caring and helpful. I even left with a booklet about my condition. What a wonderful facility we have in Bristol.

Excellent service received from all staff. Care and treatment was good. Appointments always seem to be running late but probably due to volume of patients in the clinics. All staff working very hard at all times and have always apologised …

The ocular plastic surgeon did a superb job and Nurse Val was lovely. Unfortunately Val was on leave the second time I visited and the other two nurses made it clear they didn’t approve of anxious, distressed patients. However this was a few years ago so let’s hope things have improved since then.
Brilliant care and very kindly staff. My eyesight after cateract surgery is much better than in my entire life. I’m so grateful
I went to the hospital with my 7month old one. The doctors were amazing- competent, friendly and extremely patient. We showed up a bit earier and were seen straight away. The waiting room in the pediatrician wing is full of toys and baby books, there’s even a fish tank! Thank you for doing a great job x

Amazing care from Bristol Eye Hospital today – cannot thank them enough I know that I will be looked after so well – thank you
Very good urgent care. Seen, treated and discharged within 2 hours. Nurse practitioner was very knowledgeable and took care to explain everything to me. Consultant was less good at explaining anything.
Totally professional and caring too. Very efficient despite an obviously busy day. All staff, including volunteers were brilliant. It’s scary when it’s your eyes, but I felt safe in capable hands. Thank you.
Excellent, can’t thank them enough for my son’s cornea transplant. Brilliant surgeon and great after care. Very well run ward, clean, smart, and friendly staff.
First class care, staff were attentive and friendly. Mr Richard Haynes was amazing, friendly and informative. No complaints whatsoever?
The care I got here was great. However, please change the voice of the lady who reads the information to you when you call, she’s so depressing and condescending in her tone that I chose to suffer the first day I called as it put me off coming in.Felt like I was back in primary school and I was about to get a serious telling off.
As always, lovely friendly staff. Treatment was swift, and the doctor lovely, explaining clearly what the problem was and what he could do to fix it
Went for appointment to see if MRI showed signs of MS, all 4 doctors specialists in Glaucoma. Told I have water on the brain and discharged. Shuttle bus does not pick up from Eye Hospital despite circular route showing it does. Appointments …

Came in for an emergency appointment. Seen within the hour and the staff were all very friendly at Bristol Eye Hospital. Excellent service.
I went into the eye hospital in pain and almost blind and they were amazing! Everyone was wonderful, they sorted me out and have been incredible every time I’ve been back. As good as it gets!
My husband was taken in as he had a detached retina.we had to travel from wales, appointment was made straight away.the surgeon and nurses were great.as I wasnt allowed to go in with him, they looked after him .nothing was to much trouble for them looking after him.
Spent a morning here and have no computer paints
Staff are such a great team together and the surgeons very skilled supported by hardworking nursing staff
Spent 5 hours at the eye hospital only to be given drugs I’ve already tried and didn’t work. I asked if they were different and were assured they were until I got home and they’re the same! Such a waste of my life and no closer to actually fixing my vision. Don’t bother going just go see a pharmacist.
Fantastic….and fast …..seen by nurse and then doctor within 40 minutes…. without an appointment….on New year’s day!!!……lucky to have this hospital in Bristol……quality and service levels outstanding…..thanks NHS
Can’t thank the Nurses and Dr’s enuff for there help, I was rushed through as an emergency and couldn’t fault my treatment and the follow up appointments after. Im all better now wouldn’t think twice about using the hospital again.
I have recently attended a series of treatments at the BEH culminating in an injection in my right eye. I can not imagine any gift grater than the restoration of effective eyesight. Thank you seems a wholly inadequate word; but it will have to do.
I got seen in under an hour and Stephanie was really kind and helpful, thanks!
The service is only catered for certain people as it looks due the importance it’s gives to its clients depending on where they come from
Nothing more than excellent, caring helpful reassuring , from the front desk to the nurse who took the metal out of my eye , first class Bristol is very well served and lucky to have a place like this you can walk into
If I had to pay it would have been money very well spent .
Very good. The only thing that annoyed me was the elevator noise of when they fixed it. Other then that. Great hospital!
Very pleased with the treatment I’ve had.
Excellent the staff were very helpful and didn’t have to wait any longer than is normal thank you one and all🌈 NHS👏👏👏👏👍🍻🥰❤ …
So far so good, went to see them ref possible Glaucoma, but it turns out I have a partially detached retina, so having operation soon. Only down side have been trying to contact the pre assessment team, to no avail
Really quick, efficient service in A&E. Was in, treated and out in 30 minutes with a solution to fix my scratched cornea. Very impressed.
Efficient A&E system and excellent service and care from all staff.
This Hospital has been dealing with my daughters eye condition for well over a could not wish for more expert care.. Today we met the most rude nurse unable to meet the requirements of her Professional code of Conduct..Hence i will be sending in details of her awful care today . It makes me sad to report this …
Do the Outpatients Department ever answer the phone? Over an hour of going from Operator to constant ringing to get through! One rude operator actually said “Well if course your not going to get through when they are closed!”! She got very shirty when i told her that their website states they are opened until 4:30pm!!!!
Started to have a problem with my cornea in November, since then still have a problem, a lot of time wasted, a lot of money lost, 2 surgery done. Also I don’t understand why I always have a different doctor.
Result??? Nothing
Everyone was so helpful. Ive had surgery for a detached retina….twice. I have been expertly looked after
From the man on the door right through to the doctor and nurses in the theatre, all brilliant
Had surgery during the covid pandemic can honestly say everyone was brilliant. Dr Darcey was amazing.
Took my 82 year old mother for her hospital appointment, we were delayed at both today’s appointments by 1 hour each time because people that use hospital transport take priority, why have an appointment system??
A combination of professional skill and pastoral care.
Particular thanks to Consultant Bennett and the nurses.
Excellent care and organisation during these trying times. Very grateful to all staff.
Excellent, kind staff, who helped me after a minor DIY-related mishap of my own making.
