I am asked to send a written letter to be able to change my address my account being locked. Every other financial organisation allows you to reset your passwords using email or mobile phone numbers via codes being sent. This is not for security reason, this is to make it difficult for clients to withdraw money.

Had a some small holdings of stocks in a SIPP. I read through their info on their website which says that when selling stocks the money would be available usually in 2 working days. After 3 days, the “Withdraw Money” button was still greyed …

I can see I’m not the only one complaining here about being left alone and ignored by this company. I have requested them on 29 Nov 2022 for an ISA transfer. It is now 4 Feb and still nothing happened despite Freetrade chasing them …

If you change your address you have to wait 21 days before you can make any withdrawals from your account.
However, if you’d like to add funds this can be done instantly.
Surely proof of new address along with ID would be sufficient but not at HL.

I’ve been using HL for 5 years and I am very satisfied. The choice of funds is large and the trading process is easy. Over the years, their website has improved and lots of useful content has been added. The HL app is also robust. Overall, I highly recommend the company.

As a workplace the new CEO has led vast, positive changes in the previous four years for the staff (thankfully reversing the steady exodus under the impossibly well paid Ian Gorham). Not a very a good company to work for if you go to work for them on one of their help desks, it’s akin to working in a posh call center, and the salary was pretty low for such a profitable company. As far as using their investment services, I think they are quite good – I’ve not had a problem with them so far and I would recommend.

HL used to offer a transfer from a trust to a JISA. This was ‘temporarily’ suspended early on in the pandemic, and has not, as yet, been reinstated.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the various legal cases that are challenging HL over the Woodford debacle.
