Write a ReviewIt’s a very nice leisure center and doesn’t cost too much compared to other centres In the area .
The Olympic pool is definitely a plus ,the soft playing areas for kids, the …
There is a big car park. I was at Sunday. Not too busy, the swimming was good. I used the sauna. The sauna door always dirthy. A bigger problem is that not even a hair dryer works, which is very bad in winter. I felt good overall, but my head is very cold.
This is an excellent facility. Gym sauna steam room. And great value. You would pay x3 more at a private club for a worse facility. Staff are excellent. There are some minor issues but to be honest this facility is the best value in the area
Totally disappointed with the way they were unorganised with the swim club trials. My 2 kids tried for their swim club trials, my younger child was accepted on a trial basis but just after 1 attempt where the coach apparently thought him …
I am a regular swimmer and really like to take a dip in the jacuzzi after my swims, unfortunately, since I joined this place in October it maybe worked twice, currently out of service for a second or a third week… Swimtags are often …
Great facilities. We used the soft play which was clean and not so busy. The centre itself was quite lively with lots of families swimming or doing other sports. Great running track on site.
Great clean swimming pool, although the lockers could do with some renovation/maintenance. The air in the pool area smelt wonderfully sweet!
Poor weightlifting equipment worn beyond repair ,i don’t think there is really any worst gym in uk,majority of equipment is out of use broken or damaged, realy bad music background extremely old and out of life treadmills, very limited …
I visit this place every week. Staffs are great. Place is always clean and there is plenty to do there. Free parking available and there is always space to park. Highly recommend.
The facilities are great, unfortunately the staff at the front desk are very rude, disorganised and unprofessional. I feel maybe they could do with some grown ups working at the front and organising things properly.
Clean and tidy. Lots of facilities. Good parking.
Update. Fantastic gym, great friendly staff…. However one cleaner seems to …
excellent climbing wall, gym is usually busy AND, unlike what the negative reviews will tell you, has plenty of equipment and helpful staff for training.
Big car park which is free, has a nice area to sit and relax and have a nice hot chocolate – gym was a nice size and the staff were very happy and welcoming
This isn’t a bad leisure centre, but it’s not great either. The positives are there’s lots to do, the climbing wall is great fun and the soft play there is great for my daughter. The swimming lessons she goes in are also very good. …
Terrible customer service at the desk and over the phone. They gave me wrong information over the phone.
When I arrived, they said the area is closed even though I called earlier and …
Nice and clean. We go here only for swimming meets. It’s very welcoming with nice places around. Big parking as well!
I have a swim membership and I have to say it is excellent value, of course this is only true if you go! The carpark is plenty big enough , the inside is always clean the swim changing rooms well looked after, the pool is well maintained …
Not a good experience, very overcrowded, poor control by attendants, no lane swimming for casual swimmers. Before we booked we should have been made aware that there was only limited space. We booked the swimming pool for 10am and when we …
Parking becoming a nightmare on weekends, but otherwise fantastic facility.
The climbing wall here is really good and the staff that run this section (especially Dave) are really friendly and supportive. He made our experience what it was and helped us to gain more confidence on the wall. Thank you for a great day!
I found most but not all staff friendly, food disappointing and cafe staff extremely rude.
Facility’s great tho.
Sign in system must have been made by a trainee IT employee and miserable front desk act like they are doing you a favour by signing you in if the machines are slow. Learn to smile and not be a miserable bunch. Not all but the older ones look like they’ve given up on life
My first visit to this pool, took my 5 year old for a swim in the learner pool. our first experience was a large 3inch by 3inch blood stained plaster floating next to us. I then found another 3 more similar sized plasters floating around. …
Very clean changing and shower area in the gents. Sports hall very dusty though
My daughter’s swimming lesson got cancelled in January and I was told my direct debit would stop straight away which wasn’t the case. The money kept coming out of my account and despite chasing it several times, I still have not received …
I went there for a coffee, but the coffee area was closed, so had a packet of crisps from one of the many vending machines. I sat on a plastic chair whilst eating them so was nice that they provide crisp eating chairs. 10/10
Astro is very good also gym swimming pool and rock climbing is excellent
Very well run. Helpful and friendly Reception (knowledgeable and fast). Place is clean, good equipment and the one trainer I have met (so far) has been really excellent. Small things like the large car park and a decent cafe also help.
Smooth, simple, affordable, great class, tons of parking, lovely staff!
It’s a good place to play badminton
I recently passed out/had a seizure whilst working out in the gym, the staff were excellent and quick to react, called me an ambulance and ensured I was ok until the paramedics arrived and took over. Even followed up the next day with a …
Very nice place with two saunas🙂. …
On the day it was a bit of a shambles for my child’s party, sadly I cannot give a glowing review as the kitchen was closed because of a staff shortage, not something that could be helped but spoilt the day and my opinion.
Xcel leisure centre and the adjoining Sports hub are first class facilities.
I was attending a first aid class one of their many group rooms.
The swimming pool is excellent, and there are several badminton courts. The …
Receptionist was unfriendly and cold towards me…maybe she has an aversion to Asians..not sure though…bur she mafe me feel inferior…spoilt my mood and didn’t enjoy facilities as much…the younger receptionists much more welcoming
Worst gym I’ve ever been to. Joined 3 weeks ago but I’m gonna cancel my direct debit. Cost more than a budget gym which are 100% better.
The equipment here is outdated and there’s not much equipment. One weight from …
Great sports facility. Our kids enjoy football, rock climbing and athletics. The playground is good for younger kids too.
Double booked the badminton courts again. No manager on duty. Only young staff to deal with the problems. We also go along and find there’s no net for badminton so we have to ask for it, and the basketball net is in the way. These transitions seem to surprise them every time!!!
Update: Nov 2023 – has improved, staff seem more helpful. Initial review: Service varies widely depending on who you get. Staff seem overworked and some are just not bothered about helping, making excuses or blaming the ‘system’ for their mistakes, leading to inconsistent customer service.
Great facilities on the pitch good car park as well
Fantastic sports centre.
Clean new purpose built great for kids and bday parties.
Terrible experience! I finally got out of my contract, following constant harassment from members and no action being taken.
If you looking for a great place for a good workout. Great activities and friendly staff. This is it. I love ❤️ the fact that I am a member here.
this place is honestly horrible they take hours to answer there calls just because the lazy service is so bad honestly
Run by a bunch of liars and thieves. I had my sons birthday party here and they stole my cake knife. I saw the knife and asked for it and was told that it belonged to a member of staff, when I asked to speak to the member of staff I was …
Nice facilities well it should be as it was only officially opened 4 days prior to our visit.
Very nice sports facilities
Mr girlfriend and I played squash here every week for a number of months. We always booked two 45 minute slots for about 16 pounds. This is expensive to begin with but recently they announced you can only book 30 minute sessions for the …
2.5 out of 5 Stars. My partners and my own experience with the Xcel Leisure Complex have been a mixed bag. We’d been continuous members and used the gym facilities for almost a decade but left after a growing number of ongoing issues. …
Soft play Thursday paid for 0930 to 1130, kicked out at 1100😳have you noticed that there are no replies from management on the reviews????? …
The Xcel has all the basics for a good sport centre but things like the online booking system that should be relatively easy is often not available and is very clunky to use to book squash courts – at the time of writing after being down …
The place itself is reasonably nice. This review is purely based on our experience with the swimming lessons. Started off well about 5 years ago and progressed quickly up to Green Hat. This is where it starts to go a bit awry. My son …
I love the place. So many things to do. I mostly go for swimming but you can do many sports
I visited to go swimming and soft play on Friday of school half term with two children aged 2 and 7. The pool timetable on the website isn’t correct and we found only a small portion of the main pool was open to children. (Despite half the …
Great facilities, from the kids soft play to the large pool, workout studios, gym, squash courts, sports hall, spin studio, athletics track, football pitches, gymnastics hall and cafe! The changing rooms are ok – no frills but then it is …
Haven’t used the gym but used the pool the other day. The pool itself was nice but unfortunately the female changing rooms were utterly disgusting and smelt of urine everywhere. It was absolutely terrible. Floors sopping wet and filthy too. I didn’t even dare to enter a toilet cubicle because of the stench. Wont be going back!!!!
Most of the TV head set transmiter not working,, disappointing .Been like this for months. What’s the point of having TV’s when you can’t hear anything through your headsets ? …
I use the gym here everyday! I love the staff, they more than anything stop me going anywhere else! They’re like family now I’ve been a member so long!
The pool changing rooms are very tired and really need an overhaul, hopefully it will be done at some stage!
Great facilities. Joined to use the gym which is well equipped but much more inc swimming pool, climbing wall etc. Staff friendly and helpful especially Josh who took his time and was very patient and attentive to our membership requirements. Good atmosphere too.
I have only used the pool here. They have slow, medium and 2 fast lanes which are open to about 15.00, when the lanes are taken down. Changing facilities are good with plenty of lockers. The bottom of the pool can look dirty. I have no idea how often the pool is cleansed. There is always a lifeguard on duty.
Went to the indoor climbing facility and we were impressed. The team there are knowledgable and helpful. The range of climbing walls is good for a small space. …
Fantastic centre which serves our growing walking football group really well. Staff are respectful and understanding of guys with dementia challenges. For such a popular centre with so many customers it is amazingly well run and great value for money.
Bit of a soulless, empty ground. Felt like I was visiting any community Ground in the country. Lacking any sort of Walton & Hersham colours. Disappointing.
Usual leisure centre facilities, separate kids pool, outdoor football pitches, soft play area is tall (three or four levels) but small footprint so good for one or two visits before getting bored. Will have a lot of development starting outside soon I think. Nice location by the Thames.
Good facilities, badminton courts are a little expensive, but they have high ceilings and are normally very clean. Gym is normally over crowded but it’s got a fair amount of equipment. The pool is nice, however also can be very busy ay peak times
It’s big and airy. There is a gym, a cafe, vending machines, the cafe does some hot food (e.g Jacket potatoes).
Swimming lessons for kids are done here, they have a climbing wall and there is …
Brilliant venue, would like to see moreinterest in getting children into athletics though
Despite the other various bad reviews I visited Elmbridge leisure centre today
And I must say I was pleasantly surprised
A large car park with plenty of spaces …
We’ve visited the softplay in the Xcel few times and it’s always been nice and very clean.
Ladies beware: My girlfriend just had to witness a old perv playing with himself in the steam room. He is lucky I wasn’t there with her. If we cross paths he will be sorry.
The water in the learning swimming pool is really cold. And it could do with some updating. My daughter slipped and scratched her face on the ground. It was so bad a year later you could still see it. Haven’t been back since.
A modern leisure centre, with a good climbing wall. Sometimes feels a little under staffed and cold do with some real and healthy food at the cafe.
Great place to get your fitness on. good size halls for 5 a side, a good pool with jacuzzi, steam and sauna room plus squash. They have good 3g pitches outside as well! its by the river as well, so worth cycling to if youre keen!
The centre was pretty busy, staff could have been a bit more on the ball. Kids were jumping in to a lane designated for lane swimming which was very disconcerting.
I spend my time at Xcel mostly in the gym. however I must say one of the female staff members who is quiet old with black hair is extremely disrespectful and rude compared to the other staff. I asked if she could refund me because the …
Council run gym and pool. Membership also entitles you to access to Hurst Pool in Molesey. Badminton, football, etc., plus a 25m pool, 1.8m deep, and a shallow training pool of 20m. Lessons for kids and adults. No slides, warm showers, …
Frustrating as there is a friendly atmosphere and 99% helpful staff. There is one personal trainer who is more interested in working out himself, not putting his weights back & playing with his phone whilst inducting or training people. …
Unprofessional and rude girls at the front desk.
Gym is a good size though the weights machines are as cheap and it shows. Haven’t used the other facilities like the pool or classes but the whole place seems to be well put together.
Website is not helpful it is uninformative apart from potted information. The place typicle of a badly run local authority set up – although I do believe from the bad web site it is managed by a Private Contractor, still hopeless. Finally …
