Write a ReviewWhipps cross hospital is a large hospital which provides a full range of general inpatient, outpatient and day case services, as well as maternity services and a 24-hour A&E and urgent care centre. …
I had an excellent experience at A&E with my boy. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and professional. Despite being very busy, they made sure we were checked in quickly and kindly directed us to the children’s …
Took my daughter to A&E and everyone from beginning to end were polite and professional. I was checked in and went to the children section where there was a bit of a wait but I truly appreciate how busy they were so I cannot complain. This …
I fell off the metal stairs by my flat when it was wet after the rain. Went to Whipps, was struggling to sit down and stand up; the queues and the waiting time was bad. I came in at 11am and left at 8pm. …
I have been to Whipps Cross University Hospital on two occasions , one when my wife gave birth , we actually had the baby at St Thomas Hospital in central London as we thought the service was better there , let me tell you we did the follow …
The receptionists in the A&E department are extremely rude and have no consideration for patient confidentiality when it comes to sensitive information. They also chew gum and listen to music in their headphones whilst taking your details …
Always had good experiences in children’s A&E. Doctors and nurses have been so helpful. It’s a shame so many people are negative about a service that is free. If there are long waiting times it’s because the staff are overstretched and there are far too many people going there for non-urgent reasons.
Going through a horrible time with bowel surgery, I´m glad that I ended up here. One of my worst experiences but taken care of by amazing people. Every fright, every pain or problem was taken care with compassion and understanding. Thank you very much, it helped to a speedy recovery and overall safe feeling.
Probably the worst A&E and NHS experience I have ever had. 12 hours in A&E, 7 of those throughout the night with me being the only person left in the lobby, and still not seen by a doctor. No help from countless nurses I talked to, promise …
On arrival we have been told there is four hours waiting time. End up waiting more then 8 hours when another announcement was made saying waiting time is now 9 hours, we asked receptionist when we will be seen by doctor and that we are …
Thankyou to all the medical teams who were exceptionally hard working caring and kind. My short stay in Poplar Ward was comfortable and any needs and concerns were addressed with professionalism and kindness despite the pressures and long hours they had to endure. I much appreciate what you all did and do for us.
This hospital nearly killed me twice. I laid on the waiting room floor with blood poisoning and nearly got sepsis as they were so incompetent and SO CRUEL. Over 13 hours to get treatment and people laying on the dirty floor, no compassion. …
Just want to take the time to say what a wonderful experience we have had at Whipps Cross. …
Zero rating. Horrific place. Very rude, ill trained, hard hearted reception staff in A&E. Don’t work there if you have zero compassion or people skills. Work in a dark basement away from patients. …
I went to urgent Care in whipps cross hospital for an ear infection and really bad headaches as I was from Derby and came to London for a funeral. I was treated nicely by the receptionist and the observation room doctor who checks blood …
I cannot speak for other people, but I can compare to two other hospitals. I really cannot fault Whipps Cross and I have had the best possible care that could be given and the follow up care has been amazing!! Well done Whipps Cross and thank you! I am writing this whilst in your waiting room.
Worst hospital of its kind. I burnt the upper half of my body went there 8pm and was first checked by nurse at 3am after 7 hours. I was in agony standing outside burnt without clothes. On second occasions cracked my back the doctors told me …
It’s almost impossible to telephone a ward. (I had many calls to make over a week) If the phone is answered, the person answering, including ward staff, do not speak English as a first language which makes it difficult, frustrating and …
would give zero stars if possible. Honestly the worst hospital, children A&E ever! Avoid at any cost.
Come to the emergency with toddler with head cut open, concusion in need of …
I would like to take this opportunity to commend Whipps Cross University Hospital for displaying each element of compassion, professionalism, efficiency and support during an acute case of medical trauma. …
Do not go here for treatment! I had a stroke and I was wrongly diagnosed and nearly sent home! After about 13 hours overnight in a corridor I was sent to Royal London where I was treated well. Whipps Cross have denied neglect obviously 🙄 …
Amazing hospital with the best staff. We are really lucky. Big thanks to Dr Solamon and an Italian nurse who’s name I didn’t get. Check in-> bloods->doctor’s consultation in under 2 hours. Amazing NHS as always 🙏 …
I would like to thank Dr Jorge and team at the Emergency facility provided at this amazing hospital. Despite waiting for a while due to the staff being overwhelmed with priority cases, each and every team member from the cleaner, reception …
Rubbish hospital. Incompetent and rude staff. The whole Organisation is rubbish. For you own health. It would be safer to go private. Phone you up at last minute op. No letter, no communication, no nothing. Cancelled the op so many times. …
Unfortunately I can’t give zero…. I have been sent by 111 yesterday 17/02/23 because I had chest pain, headhache on left hand side and thinkling on left arm and hand …. I have a chronic PKD and under medication for high blood pressure….They …
I went this morning to Whipps Cross Hospital with my daughter because of a scarlet fever suspect. My daughter’s school emailed me this week about how a few students had scarlet fever. My daughter had the symptoms, her face was swollen a lot …
No parking and no public transport to get there! It’s a big complex with various clinics dotted around in a vast area. The worst is how do you get there, as there is not enough parking space for visitors, nor can you go there easily by public transport!
A&E has gone down zero rating.
I was there in December 2022. we were not seen for hours until 3am and then after blood test had to wait for results 2 hours …
Worst experience. Has to be the worst hospital ever. Very traumatic experience. Feels like a horror movie. I can’t believe it. Nurses were rude I came in ambulance and they dismissed me I had a head injury and then security threatened to …
Appalling. Had an epileptic fit. Taken there from home by paramedics (they were lovely). The hospital was hell. Ended up on a trolley. Incompetent nursing staff (after several hours) fitted a cannula- but missed the vein. Some more hours …
By far the worst A&E in London, unprofessional and rude staff, lack of hygiene in the building, doctors who couldn’t care less about the patients, the list could go on. No wonder they are in special measures. I would give them zero stars if I could.
Firstly our whole experience before we departed was actually 5 star. Staff were AMAZING In particular the guy in the x-ray department was wonderful. However, unfortunately Phil on desk 4/fracture desk was extremely rude and in a job that he …
I went for a scan and the staff were absolutely brilliant, from the friendly ancillary staff to the medical staff who dealt with me. They were really patient and answered my questions. The one star lost is for the building. It is in desperate need for an update.
Disorgonised. Been sent from one department to another to hear “who sent you hear” spent 11 hours in A&E. No one gives a “sh…t” about you. I felt like im dying with what it appears to be kidney stones and In the end been given pain killers and advice to drink water. How on earth 20yo boy can be a doctor??? Circus not a hospital
Visited A&E and stayed there for a several days in the beginning of November 2016. Very helpful and friendly staff. Helped me a lot and got me back on track.I would say the food was lovely – very nice meals. I can see that there are quite …
Children’s A&E are amazing! So systematic and organised. Ivan in particular is an excellent emergency registrar! Kept me informed the whole time and got things done! Made sure we were seen by ENT too. Well done guys keep up the good work! 👏🏽 …
Had a sigmoidoscopy, the consultant, doctors and nurses were brilliant, thank you so much for your very professional help. A painless experience and for me a good result. Thank you . You can’t get better than the NHS. Hope you get a deserved pay rise, thanks for looking after us all. Brendan
Rude staff and extreme bureaucracy. Refused my blood test despite having an appointment. Staff did not try to help and had zero compassion. Avoid this hospital if you can.
Can’t fault this hospital my nan was in there last month after an awful ordeal from her care home the treatment she received was 5 star they couldn’t do enough even when transferred to a ward for the few days she was there staff were fantastic and gave her the best care before she sadly passed away.
My daughter had a appointment today in this worse hospital.
After our appointment we were told by the consultant to have a blood test, as we went there the lady with red hair curly hair, was so rude the way she spoke to …
After waiting for long time i had a day surgery i went to the theatre i romove all my clothes ready for surgery the surgeon come put his hand on my tammy and told me im not going to operate you because his not sure i have a gallbladder …
I have nothing but praise for the staff at Whipps, they’re under great pressure but still managing to do a great job – Recently I spent five days in there with pneumonia; they saved my life & the food was good too – On the negative side, I did notice some of the patients in the respiratory ward I was in seemed ungrateful and ungracious.
Had to attend two different departments recently for two different issues. Dealt with efficiently in both cases. One required medication, and insisted on sending it to the outpatients’ pharmacy rather than my local pharmacy. This is crazy, because I don’t live very local, and when I got there it appeared to be very badly run.
I cannot fault the amazing care I have received for all my children born here, it’s is unbelievable how much attention to detail and the special baby unit have to most professional and kind staff who have been there for years. I highly …
Horrible hospital. My mum went there to have operation and it was awful. Very irresponsible staff. My mum complained all day about her bladder and the fact that she could not go to the toilet. After whole day of begging the staff to do …
Worst service possible. Staff are rude and incompetent. Every department is bad. Lack of care, lack of knowledge, lack of compassion, lack of duty. Avoid like the plague if you can or go somewhere else
My husband had call appointment on 4th of November after waiting for months. And on 31st he October he got one missed call from hospital when he was at work. Next day on 1st November he called them back to ask why did they called and they …
How brilliant was the diabetic nurse Tenneh. So gentle and kind with me. Gave me loads of great advice and calmed me down enormously. Thank you
Children’s emergency ward was just cruel. Forget about long waiting times, which noone seems to care about.. The main doctor there was incredibly insensitive to our needs and totally clueless of basic necessities of a sick child, on top of …
Would like to thank staff in the paediatrics A&E department for the compassion and care that they showed to my 8 year old grandson , who had a badly dislocated elbow . Once we got into that department he was seen quickly and all staff were …
This is the worst hospital to attend in case of an emergency!!! The waiting hours were more then 7 hours, service is rubbish, staff nurses have set their mind to look after you only if you are in a state of dying and other cases are not …
I Visted the GP x-ray department last week for a chest X-ray and had a seizure when I was leaving. All the staff in that department were extremely kind and helpful, especially as I am autistic and came alone to the appointment. A big thank …
In my 30 years of going to use the NHS I have never seen a hospital like this. I saw a queue for reception out to the door for emergency cases including life threatening. I saw one woman who miscarried at 19 weeks and in labour pain they …
Some of the Doctors in the the A&E hospital are extremely rude and unhelpful have no empathy
Like they rather be elsewhere then treat people with care and kindness …
The most horrible hospital. They cancel my surgery appointment half day before . They give me a lot of medication before my operation but they cancel after that . NHS asking for more money for salary but they don’t respect the patients.
Had to take my nephew to A&E Saturday night cannot fault the staff they were all excellent we were seen and out of there in 2 hours with so many negative comments regarding the NHS yes it’s stretched but the staff are giving it their all well done
I can’t speak highly enough of the staff in the paediatric department. The level of care they gave to my young child was outstanding. They showed real empathy and were very thorough and professional. Everything in the department was clean and modern.
Over the many years of being served by this hospital. I have come to the conclusion there are times where the hospital shines and does all the great things it does. But most of the time it’s below average, ambulances from the hospital take …
Children’s emergency ward was just cruel. Forget about long waiting times, which no one seems to care about.. The main doctor there was unbelievably arrogant, forceful and rude in dealing with us. We went to the right place but the …
Horrendous. Turned up to a scan, only to find the entire antenatal clinic EMPTY – For 3 hours. Scan was cancelled. The worst service I have used, avoid Whipps Cross completely if possible.

Did ultrasound there 3 months ago. The hospital never sent results to my GP.
I went to a&e after my local gp couldn’t do their job properly and I must say , yes long waiting times etc but I was seen and taken care of well .
The doctors, consultants , specialists, nurses , cleaners everyone was very …
I can’t fault the doctors/consultants or radiographers – but the admin staff lack basic training in how to interact with out-patients politely and with empathy.
Staff are brilliant, especially at the children’s A&E or any paediatric department. Highly recommend
Had crashed with my bicycle and dislocated my shoulder caused by a pothole,, went to emergencies.
After 4 hours, they sent me home without any diagnose and some pain killers. …
Never have I ever been to such a poor hospital, the service is horrible ,got to the hospital at 2am didn’t get seen to till 4(this was before they actually found out the problem )you then had to wait another 2 Hours to get the actual appointment.staff are not welcoming . Would not recommend unless you like waiting 4 hours +.
My Mother was in ICU for some time. I have to say the nurses, doctors, surgeons and all the other members of staff have been amazing. They all went far and above the care we expected. I know there is over 100 staff members in ICU 1 and ICU …

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. Please avoid at all costs and head up to Homerton hospital which is about 5/10 minute drive away. I was told to go in by 111 for something serious urgently and not to wait to see my …

The whole process and experience was quite good.
I also received a follow up appointment very quickly.
As of right now I do not resemble with the 1 star reviews which in my opinion …
My review is based mainly on the ambulance services Provided to my wife. We called 999 as an emergency as she sustained a leg injury. Did not get his name but he was a tall bald white male who was extremely helpful and so far the staff at …
Utterly useless A&E service. Was told will be given painkillers took over 3 hours to be given them, 6 hours been waiting at the A&E still not seen. Bunch of drunken people swearing with no security to calm the situation down. It’s a complete and utter joke!
Recently sent a video showing a Hospital staff nurse slap a patients phone out of there hands. Don’t care what the patient did this is clearly unprofessional.
This is the worst hospital, the A&E is terrible with racist staff. The head nurse in the A&E, ICU is absolutely awful, with horrible attitude, and rude! What is the point of being a nurse, when you treat others so horribly. I witnessed a …
I went for an oral surgery consult, the service was excellent and really fast, I was seen before my appointment time, sent for X-ray (twice) which was much less uncomfortable than the X-ray machines in the dentists and the overall experience and result was very good, with all staff lovely. Thank you Whipps Cross and NHS.
OK 2.5 hrs around in A&E. Staff as always friendly aproahable. Sorted my swollen ankle. Much better now the x ray is in minors. Should have gone there instead St Margaret’s. They don’t share info diffrent trusts
